Reviews Summary

Taberna Salinas is celebrated for its authentic Andalusian cuisine and charming, traditional atmosphere, with many highlighting the generous portions and friendly service. While most diners rave about signature dishes like salmorejo and oxtail stew, a few reviews mention inconsistencies in flavor and seasoning, and one reviewer found the prices steep for the value received.

"Fantastic tapas restaurant. Lovely setting, very authentic, helpful staff and amazing food. The red wine was great and not expensive. Absolutely worth a visit."

"Very delicious food! One of the few places in town with good vegetarian/vegan options. The grilled mushrooms and the fried eggplants were amazing! We tipped over a glass of wine and the waiters were quick to fix the situation, and they even poured us a new glass free of charge! 4 plates were plenty for 2 people. Great prices and great atmosphere, it’s even in the Michelin guide😎"

caroline jørgensen

"I went to the restaurant with my family and left with the impression that it's more highly rated than it should be. It's not that it's a bad place, but based on the reviews I read online and in printed travel guides, I expected to be surprised by the flavors—and that didn’t happen.

I'll start with the flamenquín I ordered. Absolutely nothing interesting about it. Just a deep-fried breaded sausage with no flavor beyond that of the frying oil. Then I had a broth with meatballs, which was watery, lacked seasoning, and the meatballs had more flour and bread than actual meat. In fact, the meat was so indistinct I couldn’t even identify the protein.
Also, I didn’t think the service was great either. The waiters were quick to take our order but slow to explain the dishes or to bring out the food. My wife ordered the meatball soup, and we only realized the waiter hadn’t put in the order after I had already finished my flamenquín and my son his fries.
Finally, I found the price to be quite steep—in other words, expensive for what it delivers. On a positive note, I’ll say that the rustic decor and traditional style of the place are fitting for a classic tavern."

The Best Traditional Restaurants In Crdoba Spain

A favourite among locals ever since it opened its doors in 1879, Taberna Salinas boasts a beautiful internal courtyard decorated in true Cordoban style, with locally-made ceramics and pots of colourful plants. In this lovely space you can enjoy generous and well-priced portions of Andalusian classics, with the salmorejo and stewed bull’s tail often described as ‘phenomenal’ – high praise indeed given how many restaurants in Córdoba serve these dishes. As you’d expect for a restaurant that’s been going for almost 140 years, the decor inside is classical, with earthenware jugs and pots adorning the walls and dark oak beams on white ceilings.

We did some research before we went on our trip, and managed to locate three restaurants that all gave us what we needed: La Taberna Salinas - really enjoyable food and good wine; strange that we were allocated a table in a side room, with another English couple, but assume that was because we were couples whereas larger groups of people seemed to occupy the main restaurant. One review we read about Taberna San Miguel suggested that this characterful bar was a great place for a drink, less so for dinner, and we probably couldn’t agree more. We ordered a bottle of the Vino blanco de la casa which, in Córdoba, tends to be Montilla Fino (never call it sherry!).

For dinner, head to one of the many tabernas (taverns) – both Taberna Salinas and Taberna San Miguel (the oldest tavern in town) are great options thanks to their excellent selection of regional dishes and rustic, traditional decor. After copious amounts of hearty food and indulgent wine, we won’t blame you if you’re ready to call it a night, but if you’ve still got some steam left in the tank, then we’d recommend just following your nose (or better yet, your ears) around Centro to find a bar with live music to enjoy a night-cap.

Taberna Salinas is another restaurant in Cordoba that you just have to visit when you are in town. Here it’s all about booking a table, or arriving well in advance!. We ate in the beautiful dining room under the glass dome, while noticing both small and large companies being seated in the adjoining salons – and just as many guests being turned away at the door.
