What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
La Tranquera is celebrated for its exceptional fusion of Argentinean and Andalusian flavors, particularly its grilled meats and empanadas. Diners rave about the cozy, traditional ambiance and friendly service. However, some visitors, especially non-locals, have reported significant wait times and perceived discrimination.
"I don't think I have ever in my 200+ reviews have ever given 5 stars across the board for everything but this place is 5 stars across the board for EVERYTHING. The food was amazing. Entraña and La Tranquera potatoes were out of this world GOOD. All the food was good but those two of the five dishes we ordered were phenomenal. The location is small but it has spunk. The staff were great. Seriously the staff were as amazing as the food. Nacho (could have the name wrong) guy with the nose ring was so so good. I would hire him if he was local. He made the experience exceptional. I cannot stress enough if you're a tourist like me (American) this place gives you a great experience of local food, location, service and again great local foods to try. My kids are still talking about the food the next day."

"Made a reservation and ended up waiting at the front for a while until someone came to seat us. We were seated in the upstairs dining room that had 3 tables, which seemed a little weird because there was nobody sitting downstairs, but we didn’t think much into it. It took us a while to decide on what we wanted to eat, however, the waiter came maybe once in those 20 minutes we were deciding. Once we ordered, it took an hour for our food to arrive. The table next to us were locals and received their food within 10-15 minutes of ordering. In that 1 hour of waiting, the waiter didn’t come by once. He happened to seat another party at the table next to us so we were able to ask where our food was. My day was about 1 minute away from walking out when they finally brought 1 plate of food and then over the next 20 minutes brought out the rest of the dishes. It was a good thing we were sharing or else some of us would’ve been done with our meals before the others even started. The food was decent but nothing extraordinary to have waited that long. If you’re not a local, specifically English speaking, would highly recommend not coming here. It was the first time in Spain we felt discriminated against, which is such a silly thing to say, but truly felt that way."

"Delicious food and wonderful service. Our family brought us here and it did not disappoint. The food and service were fantastic. We started with the empanadas rabo de toro. Flaky crust and delicious filling. We all could have eaten a few more. I had the Presa ibérica, succulent and seared perfectly. The entraña steaks had a wonderful crust and were cooked to a perfect medium rare. Finally, the burger with grilled onions and goat cheese was spectacular. All meals were served with the most delicious fried potatoes. Looking forward to eating here again when we return to Córdoba."
