What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Restaurante Torre de Sande offers a premium dining experience in a stunning medieval setting, with many praising the attentive service and local-inspired cuisine. However, some reviews indicate inconsistency in food quality and service, with a few diners expressing disappointment with specific dishes and overall value compared to expectations set by its Michelin-starred sister restaurant.
"Outstanding menu with plenty of local inspired dishes. I started with the cheese croquettes which were tasty and well fried and had the squid/chickpeas/spinach stew as my main. I was pleasantly surprised by the straightforward way everything was prepared, more mother’s touch than Michelin experiments. I had a glass of light Spanish rosé proposed by our waiter and a wonderful local dessert. The prices are well adjusted to the great quality provided. All in all we had our best lunch during our New year’s holidays."

But it is also a hotel which we call La Casa; it is an Eatery in Torre de Sande; and now we have added a Casa Palacio: Paredes Saavedra. It is a journey that has lasted for more than thirty years in which past, present and future are woven together, beating in the historic center of the city of Cáceres, among stones, silence and culture. It is a commitment to the conservation and development of the environment based on the pleasure of receiving all those who visit us.
Experience in Cáceres, Spain by Samanta Kutulytė
The Torre de Sande provides an atmosphere almost as delicate as its dining and drinks, as its rooms and outdoors are suffused with antique furniture and luxurious gardens. The Wine Palace is a good place for tapas and alcohol, and along Doctor Fleming Street and the Paseo de Canovas is the La Madrila area, which is well-reputed for its nightlife scene. La Madrila is bouncing into the wee hours at places like Saqqara, Ivanhoe, and Latino.
Cáceres Should Be Your First Stop in Spain Post-Pandemic
So when the couple announced that they were taking over Torre de Sande, the middling casual restaurant next door, and opening an informal Extremaduran asador (grill restaurant) in its place, locals jumped for joy. The space, which opened this month, is absolutely stunning. Torre de Sande is named for the 14th-century tower it occupies, so you can imagine the bones: stone pillars, vaulted ceilings, rough-hewn stone walls.
What to see and do in Cáceres | Spain travel guide
There is the Parador de Cáceres, newly reopened after a protracted restoration programme, and a clutch of restaurants, including the Torre de Sande (a Cáceres classic, wonderful for a summer dinner in its walled garden). And then there's the Atrio Restaurante Hotel, sitting pretty on the Plaza de San Mateo, where a fabulous corner suite overlooking the square was to be my base camp.

One of the most surprising and well-hidden finds in Cáceres was Atrio, a three-Michelin-star restaurant, and its sister restaurant, Torre de Sande Eatery. Tapas (small plates) are famous in Spain, but dining happens very late by American standards. Extremadura’s highlights include Iberico ham from pigs that feast on sweet acorns and fabulous cheeses, especially Torta del Casar.
