What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Bar La Tapería is lauded for its delicious, high-quality tapas and generous portions, offering great value. The atmosphere is often praised for its lively, local feel. However, some diners have noted issues with service, including rudeness, language barriers, and incorrect bills, which can detract from the overall experience.
"We were drawn in tonight, Sunday, as it was very busy compared to other restaurants and was pleasingly full of happy-looking Spaniards.
We had a smart, friendly waiter who advised us well on our choice of wine.
And boy, did we eat well. We were given two free tapas dishes and then our mains arrived. We both ordered solomillo (pork), mine with the local award winning cheese, Torta del Casar, and my husband’s with peppers. The servings were generous and done to perfection. Our table looked into the kitchen and we could see the chefs working very hard (as well as limbo-ing in and out of the kitchen). The homemade desserts looked very good but we simply didn’t have any room for them.
Highly recommended and we would happily return."

"Small tapasbar worh outside shaded terrace and inside some small tables.
Staff only speaks Spanish and is not overt friendly.
We got some free tapas to start with, without explanation. Next we ordered broken eggs with fries and bacon and tataki de presa iberico. See pictures.
Would eat here again for the food."

"Waiters are totally burn-out and rude…not the way to treat customers. Unbelievable the way they waste potential income.
Bad management, bad culture…I hope food is good enough at those prices."

Restaurants in Caceres
This tiny taberna, which serves some of the best tapas in town, is always packed with locals. Order a few tostas (open-faced sandwiches on crusty peasant bread) and raciones (shared plates), and pair them with Extremaduran wines.
Eagles and gourmet food, 24 hours in Cáceres
With breakfast in the hotel being ‘I’d have to obscenely pig out to make this good value’ prices, we simply popped outside to the plaza where most restaurants and cafés offered desayuno, opting for La Taperia (Sanchez Garrido 1; open 9pm to 1am, closed Monday) because it was the only one which actually looked open (breakfast clearly starts late in Cáceres). A brace of coffees each, chunky tortilla, toast and jam, and some complimentary slices of home made cake came in at a fraction of the price we’d have paid in the hotel.

The terrace cafés on Plaza Mayor are great for breakfast or coffee, but when it comes to tapas, consider joining the locals at this busy bar just around the corner. A lengthy menu covers picky classics from croquettes and patatas bravas to high quality ham and cheeses.
