I tried the new Prix Fixe menu @The Pot Luck Club Cape Town yesterday and it was superb. We tasted a lot of dishes, including the vegetarian swaps. One flavour-packed bite after the next. Their fish taco (which is slightly modified) will always remain one of my favourite restaurant dishes. Choose between Lite (6 plates, R550 pp) or Loaded (8 plates, R795 pp) if you’re in the mood to linger. Hi...

Reviews Summary

The Pot Luck Club is celebrated for its innovative tapas-style dining and stunning views of Table Mountain. Diners rave about the exceptional food quality, creative flavor combinations, and attentive service. While generally a high-end experience, some find it a bit pricey, and it's noted that the ambiance can be lively, sometimes with smoke from the open kitchen.

"This was our second time here as a couple. Our first experience was so great that we didn’t think it could top it again but the second time we visited it was just as good/even better than before. We live in Dubai, so we’ve had a lot of dining experiences, but some of the best restaurants there don’t even come near to being as decent as The Pot Luck Club.

The staff are super friendly and attentive, you can almost chat to the chefs directly as it’s an open kitchen.

My favourite dish of the evening was the sushi garden dish (don’t quite remember the exact names of the dishes). It was hands down the best dish I’ve ever tasted in my life. It was beautiful and colourful and the contrast in flavours was like a jukebox, you didn’t know what taste was going come next.
I hope they keep this dish on the menu so that I can try it again next time.

Well done to all the staff for putting on a great show in every way you can in a restaurant."

"This was the best meal I had in South Africa. Stunning views, really great atmosphere and location, and the staff were top class.

All the dishes we had were so good and being able to see the kitchen staff working away was a great touch. The cocktails were also all really well made and unique!

If I’m back in Cape Town I will 100% be visiting again! Highly recommend stopping by."

Jon W

"We had such a fantastic time at the Sunday Brunch special at The Pot Luck Club.

The bottomless MCC and Bloody Marys were absolutely a cherry on top of a wonderful experience from beginning to end.

The staff were not only friendly but also incredibly skilled, paying great attention to detail and creating a relaxed atmosphere where we could enjoy everything they had to offer while catching up with friends.

The food was superb and beautifully presented, with the Eggs Benedict standing out as a highlight. The drinks kept coming, which added to the fun. I highly recommend checking out the Sunday Brunch. Just make sure to book in advance!"

10 Top Restaurants In Cape Town

If you can’t get in to the Test Kitchen, then you may have better luck at Luke Dale-Roberts’ other celebrated restaurant just around the corner. However, given the waves that The Pot Luck Club has been making of late, it’s highly unlikely you’ll find a table without considerable advanced planning. As the name suggests, this is a restaurant where sharing is encouraged and, with foods specifically targeting various flavour profiles, you’ll want to savour everything that arrives at your table.

Restaurants in Cape Town

A meal at this playful and inventive tapas-style venture from Cape Town star-chef Luke Dale Roberts always promises fabulous fun. With great harbor and mountain views from its position on the sixth floor of a renovated silo, this hip eatery serves an eclectic but clearly Asian-influenced array of fine-dining nibbles. Although the menu changes regularly, a few regulars like the smoked beef fillet with truffle café au lait and ceviche avocado tacos remain favorites.

There are surprisingly few restaurants with views in the city, which is just one of several excellent reasons to book here well in advance. It’s located in the silo of the original Woodstock Biscuit Mill; inside, chef Jason Kosmas and executive chef Luke Dale Roberts serve signature-style Asian-influenced tapas menu along with fabulous city and mountain views. There are two seatings; I’d opt for the earlier to enjoy the change from sunset to city lights.

The 20 Best Restaurants in Cape Town in 2025

Opened by acclaimed chef Luke Dale Roberts in 2012, this restaurant (inspired by 1950s “potluck” dinners) introduced us to the small-plate sharing concept – and is still a master of it under chef Jason Kosmas. Combining a view-struck location on the top floor of the Silo at the Old Biscuit Mill with an uber-creative, umami-forward global menu and no-nonsense, down-to-earth vibes, the kitchen team’s intention is simply to “blow you away” with flavour combinations. A delightful journey of the senses takes you from Southeast Asia and the Mediterranean to Mexico and South Africa (sometimes all on one plate!).

Dale-Roberts recently opened The Pot Luck Club (+27 21 447 0804; www.thepotluckclub.co.za; about £25 for two), on top of the biscuit factory's former grain silo. The menu draws on his Asian experience with Eastern-influenced dishes served in small, tapas-like portions. 'Tapas should be crunchy, have zing and power,' says Dale-Roberts, 'the food here is not conceptual like at The Test Kitchen.' I choose smoked beef fillet in a chocolatey truffle-café-au-lait jus and grilled kingklip (cusk eel) with an intense, Thai-style pepper sauce.
