Reviews Summary

Tamba offers an exceptional West African dining experience, lauded for its authentic, flavorful dishes and impeccable, attentive service. Diners frequently praise the intimate and beautifully designed interiors that transport them to Africa. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, the high price point is occasionally noted as a factor.

"Late post, but truly unforgettable!

We went to Tamba to celebrate my boss’s birthday, and from start to finish, it was an amazing experience.

Wendy and John were fantastic, warm, attentive, and really elevated the whole evening. They explain each dish: where it came from, how it was prepared, and the best way to enjoy it, especially the salt and the sauces, which brought so much flavor to every bite.

We were a group of 5 and ordered a few set menus along with a few extra dishes to share. It turned out to be the perfect amount, and every dish was a standout. It’s a great introduction to West African cuisine, beautifully presented and full of bold, rich flavors.

Highly recommended for a memorable and unique dining experience."

Ardie

"We previously dined at their sister restaurant, Kafe Utu, and were thoroughly impressed—so naturally, we had high expectations for Tamba. It did not disappoint.
Though the space is compact, it feels intentionally intimate, and the decor beautifully complements the restaurant’s theme. The staff were warm, attentive, and knowledgeable, taking the time to explain each dish and offer thoughtful recommendations.
We opted for the 5-course set menu and added the Agege bread, pepper soup and grilled lobster. Every dish was well-executed, rich in flavor, and clearly crafted with care. It felt like we were at Africa for a moment. Two hours simply weren’t enough to fully savor the entire experience."

Yin Ling Leong

"Celebrated a birthday here. The server was very well versed with the menu and dishes. For 7 of us, she recommended to get 3 sets and added the seasonal dishes which included pork belly and octopus, and the T-bone steak.

The chillies were amazing. Some of our friend found them spicy, but they have a variety of spice levels. But everyone of them was super super flavourful.

We have the wine from Georgia, super super yummy too. A light yet flavourful red. Not too acidic, smooth and very black Berry, blue berry, vanilla and oak. Highly recommended. Paired well with the spicy food.

Great for the special occasion!"

Tamba is the sister restaurant of the renowned Kafe Utu, the first African restaurant in Singapore. You’ll first see the red-earth-inspired exterior walls, and as you walk up the painstakingly decorated staircase (that is reminiscent of the mud architecture of Africa), you’ll emerge into a low-lit dining room with a cocktail bar that’s both glamorous and cosy. It feels like you’ve stepped into someone’s rather extravagant home with a dining area that can only seat around 20 guests.

Spice it up with the top 7 African restaurants in Singapore [2025]

Stumbling upon Tamba felt like being whisked away to the heart of Africa with each bite. The nyama choma (grilled meats) was perfectly seasoned, and the jollof rice was a flavourful, spicy surprise that I couldn’t get enough of. The real standout for me, though, was the bobotie, a South African spiced mince dish topped with a fluffy egg custard—a comforting blend of sweet and savoury.

Tamba — Stunning decor & hearty African dishes shine at Kafe Utu's new restaurant

The Lion City has been undeniably blessed by a gamut of cultural cuisines. It’s certainly not all-encompassing but already diverse in the spectrum.
