Rooftops have become increasingly popular in recent years – Linea/ Closer to the Moon is my favourite due to its city views – but bohemian garden bars, such as Grădina Eden and Dianei 4, remain the uncontested Bucharest institution. Craft-beer bars have also been popping up at a rapid pace; the latest hip addition is the Danish Mikkeller, housed in a spectacular 20th-century villa on Charles de Gaulle Square. As Romania is Europe’s sixth biggest wine producer, wine bars like Pâine și Vin are another good alternative.

Linea / Closer to the Moon is one of the best places to see Bucharest from above while sipping an amazing cocktail. A hit with the locals in spring and on hot and heavy summer evenings, it has found a way to keep its guests closer to the moon even on late autumn and winter evenings. Under wind- and cold-proof pods that look like giant bubbles, you’ll be able to experience the same vibe and excellent drinks, while feeling like you’re in a space station.

If you’re after rooftops and cocktails, Linea/ Closer to the Moon is your best bet for panoramic views (and some fantastic igloos come the winter), while Fix me a drink makes the best botanical cocktails in town. Nearby, Control Club is the place to be for live indie rock and electronic music, with a lush green terrace open all year long.

At the top of Victoria department store rests Linea Closer to the Moon - Bucharests famous go-to rooftop bar that offers a spectacular panoramic view of the city. Bound and vintage are both very popular clubs with students, they play a good range of latest hits and usually get pretty crowded, Bound has its own sax player who plays along with the DJ and there are usually some Romanian celebrities hanging around in these clubs. Featured on every clubbers list, the bar hosts some wicked events, from best DJs to live music gigs.

The rooftop at Linea / Closer To The Moon was probably my most frequented rooftop. Being on the edge of the Old Town, it was very convenient as a place to start a Saturday night and the combination of the big roof terrace, astro-themed decoration and slight views of the Palace of the Parliament also made it a good option for showing off Bucharest to visitors. I also really liked their halloumi skewers (other skewer options are available) and fries as an easy pre-going out dinner.

Strada Lipscani is the most famous street in the old town and if you follow it to the east and cross Victory Boulevard you will see an astronaut where you can find an elevator which takes you to the moon (and back). Your first stop is at the indoor area of Linea / Closer to the Moon, which is like a modern indoor garden, but here you don’t have a view. Get up the stairs to the bar on the roof for that top of the world feeling.

It may be a bit hard to locate, as it doesn’t boast big signs, but as you (almost) walk past an open door and see a Linea neon sign inside, that’s where you should take the elevator. You then enter a luxurious setting with an intimate ambiance.

Linea’s sophisticated and inviting ambiance makes it a perfect spot for savoring innovative cocktails and indulging in a contemporary menu that features delightful international influences. The food and service were excellent here, adding to the overall enjoyment of the visit!. The breathtaking vistas certainly create a memorable dining and drinking experience.

On of the famous rooftops and terraces from Bucharest is located in the old town, and has great views over the entire area. Linea is also a restaurant, as you will see before you reach the terrace, and they serve great drinks in a very nice setting.

One of the best ways to get a lay of the land is to get up high. And if they happen to sell beer up there, all the better. Linea/Closer to the Moon is a rooftop bar and restaurant near the edge of the Old Town which makes it the perfect spot to end your day of walking by looking over the winding streets of the Old Town and watching the sunset.

Across from the Old City, on a small street, it’s Linea Closer to the Moon, another rooftop bar. There are actually a few levels on top of the building, and from the highest one you get nice views of Bucharest at night. As I started researching places to eat and drink in Bucharest, I realised it’s a gold mine. There were sooo many places on my list!. In fact, and this rarely happens, the bars and restaurants I found were the one thing that finally made me VERY excited for Bucharest.

We spent four days in Bucharest and were pleasantly surprised its food scene. The city offers a delicious mix of casual eateries, fine dining restaurants, and historic cafes and bars to satisfy any palate. We found some great places to eat and drink in.

Linea gets a lot of Instagram love in the winter for its “igloo” tents that keep patrons warm on the rooftop. However, Linea becomes a regular rooftop bar come spring, with great views over sprawling Bucharest. Linea is also a full restaurant.
