What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Apeadeiro is lauded for its authentic Portuguese cuisine and the charming ambiance of its historic train station setting. Diners frequently praise the generous portions, good value, and the exceptional kindness and honesty of the staff, particularly Kareem. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, a few mention that some dishes can be on the saltier side, and one reviewer noted the price as being a bit high for the quality.
"I was visiting Sintra and asked someone in town where to go, he said this place cooks just like his grandmother. I got the grilled cod, which normally in the U.S. I would never order, but this was great. I realized all the cod of I’ve ever had has been frozen, but this was fresh, cooked perfectly, it’s like a different fish. Also the olives are the best! The staff was really friendly and even got me a dessert to go, even though I don’t think they normally do that, they just smiled and got it for me."

"A Portuguese restaurant in Sintra. Recommend by the Arroz de tamboril (Monk fish rice), the taste was not bad, but not as good as the Arroz de tamboril in Lisboa, the rice taste more like a congee. Still overall the food was good. While the service and the environment were also great, give it a try after visiting Sintra."
Lau Smith
"The food was delicious especially the grilled fish (dorado). Garlic butter shrimp was also good but just a bit of stinky taste.
Kudos to the all the staff they are so very helpful and nice.
The ambiance is very nice and neat."

De bediening is hier warm en vriendelijk genoeg om elk diner op zijn gemak te stellen, en royale porties zorgen voor een goede prijs-kwaliteitsverhouding.
Magical Weekend Getaway in Sintra
We had a very memorable dinner at Apeadeiro, which was recommended to us by the concierge at the Sintra park tourist information centre. It was wonderfully authentic and mainly patronised by Portuguese tourists and locals living in Sintra. Also, do not forget to try the local dessert, the Travesseiro de Sintra, which is a fluffy pastry pillow, stuffed with almond cream, as well as ginjinha poured into a chocolate cup.
