"The food was incredible and the service was just as good. We were kindly brought additional gravy for our francesinhas without having to ask for it. Our waiter even brought us a glass of port wine on the house to finish the meal. Can't say enough good things.
If you're looking for the one place to try a Francesinha in Porto, this is it!"

"What an amazing place. Some of the best service I've ever had in a restaurant. Very attentive but in a casual and not overbearing way. They've even treated me to a small glass of port wine for dessert. Francesihnas were delicious including fries which were crispy and salted just enough. Great atmosphere with lots of interesting photos and memorabilia. I could see the owner cooking my francesihna in the kitchen.
Thank you to the team - I've had a great time here."

"My wife and I were in Porto while on our honeymoon and I really wanted to try a Francesinha. We found O Afonso on google search and hadn’t realized how famous it was until we go there. We had to wait a bit before being seated, but this was because of a few large groups finishing up. Once seated, service was great and the Francesinha was amazing. Highly recommend if you’re in Porto!"

As melhores francesinhas no Porto
The 7 Best Francesinhas in Porto
Café Restaurante O Afonso lies in the center of the Cedofeita area, and the jam-packed tables inside quickly piqued my interest as I was walking by. After a short wait, I snagged a table alongside the bright yellow, tiled-clad walls and spotted the photos of Anthony Bourdain on the wall, who I learned had previously visited. There were also pictures of race-car driver Ayrton Senna, which was fitting considering the Formula 1 collectibles everywhere!

And everyone who has visited it since then confirms the quality of its francesinha, made only by its owner, who religiously keeps the recipe to himself.
