Reviews Summary

Prado offers an exceptional farm-to-table dining experience in a stunning industrial-chic setting. Diners rave about the delicious, well-executed dishes, thoughtful service, and excellent wine pairings. While most praise the innovative cuisine and welcoming staff, a few reviews mention occasional inconsistencies or overly ambitious flavor combinations.

"Went there for an anniversary dinner. It was hard to get a reservation for Saturday night but the team did everything they could to fit us in. We had the tasting menu, everything was delicious!!! The mackerel was so tasty, and the pork, although pink was smooth and so good. All the fish dishes, the fish was always very smooth, the wine was delicious as well. The dessert was amazing as well.
I highly recommend for a culinary experience."

11 Great Things to Do in Lisbon with Kids

You wouldn’t expect one of Lisbon’s buzziest new restaurants, known for attracting the city’s (as we've called them) “fashion-forward set—designers, curators, artists, and architects,” to be cool with you rolling a stroller in on a Friday night for dinner, but they are. You might get a little side-eye from your fellow diners, but if you want to feel like you’re having an adult night out with the kiddo in tow, this is an example of that Lisbon hospitality we have come to know and love. They won’t supply crayons, but the extra-friendly staff will welcome you all and encourage the kids to try the sweet potato ice cream.

Dine under a forest of green – loads of tropical plants hanging from the ceiling, that is – at this trendy central stalwart from chef Antonio Galapito. An all-natural wine list is just part of the appeal; decadent but simple dishes such as smoked Iberico pork lardo on toast, or hispi cabbage with cheese whey and walnuts, use modern stylings with the best of Portuguese seasonal produce. Even the desserts are innovative: think sweet potato with smoked milk ice cream and honey.

Prado paved the way for farm-to-table restaurants in Lisbon. You’ll find it right next to a 12th-century historic church in hilly Mouraria, with a tight menu that changes seasonally. Book this spot as one of your nicer diners while you’re in town, and plan on sharing a bunch of plates, like the beef tartare sandwiched between dried cabbage, smoked eel with caramelized onion rice and chicken skin, and Alentejano pork with acorns, plus a bottle of some natural wine.

Chef António Galapito has been at Prado for seven years but is still creating some of the most exciting dishes in the city with local, seasonal produce (most of it organic). His clever cuisine celebrates the best of Portugal with influences from farther afield (Galapito previously worked in London with Nuno Mendes). The modern plant-filled space in Baixa is flooded with fabulous natural light and serves natural and organic wines.

the Best Fine Dining Restaurants in Lisbon

One of the best restaurants in the city, Prado has in his chef and owner, the young Antonio Galapito, the key for its current success. Galapito worked a long time with chef Nuno Mendes and he brings an invigorating, young, and actual concept to Lisbon in a restaurant with an informal atmosphere – but with a high-level kitchen. Here, modern techniques are at the customer's service, from the entries (like the natural fermentation bread served with whipped pork fat) to the main dishes, where the vegetables shine – as in the cabbage heart with bell pepper sauce and crunchy buckwheat or the eggplant served with whey and pumpkin seeds.

We’ve already talked about right feet, and at Prado you’ll find one of the biggest, which always makes for great photos due to the sense of space it offers, giving it an almost exclusive status among Lisbon’s beautiful restaurants. The Prado restaurant is located in an old canning factory and, from the top of the roof, there are several lamps that join, halfway down, small areas where the green of the plants predominates. At the back is the wine cellar, in a smaller, darker space, making the ideal contrast with the rest of the restaurant area, which is presented in very light, sober colors.

Prado is the Portuguese word for “meadow”, and the restaurant applies a local focus on everything they serve thanks to partnerships with local farmers, fishermen and wine producers. This means their menu is proudly 100 per cent Portuguese and features dishes such as pumpkin with whey and toasted butter, fish with lobster emulsion and brioche with white port and chocolate. Before joining Prado, Chef António Galapito worked with hometown hero Nuno Mendes and brings a versatile and varied passion for food that's evident in the menu and beautifully-presented dishes.
