Reviews Summary

Loja do Chá is celebrated for its extraordinary selection of teas and its charming ambiance in a peaceful square. Diners rave about the quality of food, especially the brunch options and gluten-free choices, alongside attentive and knowledgeable service. While most experiences are overwhelmingly positive, some note that prices can be a bit higher and that certain pastries may not always be the freshest.

"One of my favourite places on our trip to Madeira! Gluten free options, huge value for money and TONS of tea options. Atmosphere is calm and inviting, lovely patio. My husband and I bother enjoyed our meals and treats!"

Jessie Ann Karr

"As a tea enthusiast, I appreciate the extensive menu, and particularly the local varieties of tea from Madeira and the Azores. The tea was excellent, the square is lovely and quiet, and the cakes were good, we came back a second time and loved the house cake with currants and the orange cake, the chocolate cake and nut pie less so. This makes for a much less expensive tea in case you had your heart set on Reid's but like us didn't book in time."

Geoffrey Berg

"Such a cute and relaxing spot. The variety of tea is amazing, and the staff is knowledgeable about how long each tea needs to sit as well as what cake or dish it would pair well with.
Their brunch options are great, with many different juice options as well as a good vegetarian selection."

The best restaurants in Funchal, Madeira

The square it’s in is a proper sun trap, even in winter, so I always gravitate towards it for an afternoon pit stop. The main draw of Loja do Chá is, of course, the tea. Getting proper tea (that’s ‘English breakfast’ to my non-UK readers) abroad is something of a rarity.
