What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Café Alentejano offers a genuine taste of traditional Portuguese cuisine, with many diners praising the exceptional wild boar stew and the excellent value for money. While the historic ambiance and quality of certain dishes receive high marks, some visitors note inconsistent service and a less-than-welcoming attitude towards tourists, alongside occasional concerns about hygiene and long wait times, especially during peak hours.
"IMHO the best relation quality of food / price in the town of Estremoz. They won many cuisine contests. Very friendly and helpful staff"
Wagner Alegretti
"British tourist here. The wild boar stew (not a casserole, rather, a dryer dish) was, quite possibly, the best meat dish I have had in my life. I relished every bite. It’s also the most ethical and sustainable meat you can get in Portugal, so what’s not to love?
(Service was also excellent - a single gentleman running the whole thing but very light on his feet!)"
Chantal Lyons
"Tried visiting this restaurant for dinner on a Friday night around 8pm. There was no one in the dining room upstairs and the lady working there seemed annoyed that we had showed up. She did not greet us at all and brought over menus without a smile. We ended up walking out and went a few doors down to Alcerim and had a delicious meal there."
