Reviews Summary

O Cantinho da Belinha is celebrated as a local gem offering incredibly fresh seafood and traditional Portuguese dishes at great value. Diners rave about the authentic, rustic atmosphere and the quality of the fish, especially the sardines. While most reviews are glowing, some note that the establishment could benefit from a refresh, and one reviewer reported a concerning incident involving a foreign object in their food with poor service response.

"One of the hidden gems in Cascais!! We were wandering around the city when we found this place for lunch . The entrance seemed modest and it looked like a very down to earth establishment where locals would hang out . We got seated quite quickly and I order the chicken kebab. The food arrived at a reasonable time and it was scrumptious. My friend had the fish which he said was lovely as well. The service was great too. Overall 5* and definitely recommend for great food and great value !!"

"We had grilled sardines and fried baby mackerel. The fish was fresh and cooked to perfection!! A little off the beaten path and 100% worth it."

veronique corrdin

"Be part of the neighbourhood. The restaurant is a little hidden in a residential area. We had to wait a few minutes for a table. This decision was well worth it. It is actually better known for its fresh fish, but I tried the traditional Portuguese pork liver. This decision was also perfect. The ambience is simple, local and very relaxed, the service is very courteous and the price/value ratio is excellent."

Where to eat fish in Cascais

Some people know this restaurant as the House of Fishermen, which says a lot about it: the fish come directly from the boats, so they cannot be fresher. It is a good place to eat sardines during the summer months, and every other kind of local fish throughout the year. It has a nice sheltered courtyard for windy evenings.

There are dozens of casual bars and cafes serving typical Portuguese dishes, but O Cantinho da Belinha (Av. Vasco da Gama 133; +351-21-482-2504) is a local favorite. The restaurant is hidden away from tourists and can be easily missed if not for the colorful flags strung across the garden patio. It doesn't look like much at first glance, but has a welcoming, rustic atmosphere and selection of freshly caught fish and traditional dishes at a fair price.

The Best Restaurants in Cascais

Speaking of fish and seafood, Belinha is one of our favourite places in town. Family run with traditional cuisine, Belinha offers a welcoming, friendly experience and a perfect opportunity to try some local dishes. While not strictly a seafood restaurant, we recommend trying some fish when you are there.
