Reviews Summary

Hífen is highly praised for its exceptional food, creative cocktails, and friendly service, all complemented by stunning views of Cascais Bay. Diners rave about the innovative sharing plates and the overall vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere. While generally excellent, some find the prices slightly on the higher side, though most agree the quality justifies the cost.

"Delicious food and great service. We tried the different sangrias they had which were very tasty. We shared the ham croquettes then asked our server to help us pick out some larger plates. She suggested cod a la bras which is a traditional Portuguese dish and her comfort food, and it did not disappoint! The pork secretos was also 10/10. We also tried the duck escabeche which is a cold dish served with pickled red cabbage and mandarin which was also tasty but not as good as the other too! We were celebrating a birthday and they brought out a spoonful of really nice chocolate mousse with a candle in it which was a lovely touch! The whole dinner only came to €69 so incredible value. Would highly recommend to anyone"

"The food was absolutely exceptional every bite was bursting with flavour and clearly made with care. The drinks were just as impressive. They were delicious, refreshing, and perfectly crafted. We enjoyed it all while taking in a stunning view of the beach, which made the experience even more special. The vibe was relaxed yet vibrant, creating the perfect atmosphere to unwind. To top it all off, our server was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Highly recommend if you’re in Cascais!"

"This is a tapas style restaurant with a lot of good options. My partner and I split 3 dishes and it was the perfect portion. I also got a non-acoholic beverage that was delicious. Service was quick and very polite and personable. Great views of the marina and of Cascais area."

Hífen serves up Instagram-worthy interiors, along with artfully presented food and craft cocktails. Taking inspiration from its positioning right next to Cascais Bay, a slick beach theme runs throughout the place, with bright blue chairs and light wood furnishings. On the food front, the dishes are designed for sharing – with some of the most popular picks being the squid curry arancini, the tempura asparagus with guacamole and the garlic prawns.

10 romantic restaurants in Cascais

There are three, with small tables for two and rounded ceilings that make them even more picturesque. The view of Cascais Bay, the outline of the coast to infinity (and beyond) and a menu designed with dishes to be shared help make this the perfect meal for two. And don’t forget to order one of the house cocktails, either as an aperitif or as a digestif, as you watch the sea and whisper cheesy things to each other.

Cascais’s 5 Best Restaurants (And Must-Try Dishes)

Hífen has quickly become one of Cascais’s must‑visit dining spots, blending the casual ambience of a gastropub with the sophistication of a modern eatery. The restaurant is distinctly split into two zones: a chic lower level designed as a lively bar area with high tables, upbeat music and a creative cocktail menu and an intimate upstairs dining room that offers panoramic views of Cascais Bay. The interior design cleverly balances industrial-chic – exposed brick and modern lighting – with coastal influences such as natural wood accents and soft, neutral tones.

Restaurant Recommendations in Cascais? – Page 2 – Lisbon and surrounds

If you don’t mind a slightly pricey place for good food/service, there is Hifen for good Portuguese tapas with a view, Mar do Inferno for excellent seafood with a view (but slightly outside the town), Visconde da Luz for good Portuguese food of all kinds (right in town), and lots of others like that – generally in the 100+ per couple (with wine) range. Remember you don’t need to add 30% for tax and tip here – 5-10% is plenty. There are also some decent places on the waterfront towards Estoril, but with touristy prices (but what a view with your meal!).
