Here’s the deal about the flower market in front of Hala Mirowska—this spot has been blooming for real since like the early 1900s, when the whole area was built as a marketplace. 📍Hala Mirowska, Warsaw 🕑 7am-6pm 💵 bring cash (some florists might not have card payment option) Even after the market halls survived wars and uprisings, the flower stalls stuck around like some kind of local legend. HALA MIROWSKA Hala Mirowska is an old market in the centre of Warsaw. There are two market buildings, an open air market between them and a lot of street pedlars everywhere around. It’s the place where I used to shop every day, where I could buy the cheapest fruits in summer and where saleswomen always have a good recipe for some dish for me. There are a lot of elderly people and you can hear a l...

Reviews Summary

Hala Mirowska is celebrated as a vibrant and authentic market, a heritage site offering a vast array of fresh produce, flowers, and local specialties at good prices. Visitors appreciate the historical atmosphere and the wide selection, though some mention that not all vendors accept card payments.

"This place is being my favorite because of its being a heritage. . The shops are all arranged in the edge/periphery. And unlike usual markets which has long rows of small stores this particular place has one store in the center and some stores in the first floor.
There are some flower shops and Christmas markets that are set up temporarily outside building. This place is known to every human in the city"

Two Days in: Warsaw

Sit in the centrally located open-air food market just by the Hala Mirowska and Hala Gwardii – twin neo-Gothic food halls built in the early 20th century that now house shops and street food stands. The real buzz is to be found in between the two halls, among the stalls selling fresh vegetables, plump fruit, dried fruits, cheese and bread. You will encounter everyone from families to foodies hunting down ingredients for the day’s meals, to the city’s top chefs sourcing produce for their menus.

Guide to Shopping in Warsaw

One of my favorite are the massvie ryneks that, at least once, were quite common in Eastern Europe, and that sold just about anything and everything in open-air, small-stall locations. Warsaw now has just one such location: Hala Mirowska, located near the center and which always offers a better deal than grocery stores in terms of cost and quality. I purchase most of my produce, grains and beans, spices, eggs, meat, and cheese from there, and it is one of the only places in Warsaw where I have been able to find cilantro, which is something I usually eat every day in the U.S.

Warsaw's best food markets

Located in the center of Warsaw, Hala Mirowska is one of the city's biggest markets, and has excellent Polish seasonal produce such as cabbage, potatoes, asparagus, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries, fermented, salted and pickled sausages, mushrooms, nuts and unusual eggs such as goose eggs, duck eggs and quail eggs. You can also find exotic items such as mini bananas, mango, papaya and pitayas. The market is located in and around a beautiful, old renovated market hall from 1905 with its recently refurbished sister building Hala Gwardii next door.

A Guide to Warsaw Food Markets (Updated 2024)

Hala Mirowska, Warsaw’s first and largest market, holds a rich history dating back to its construction between 1898 and 1901. Its existence predates the tumultuous events of the Warsaw Uprising, but a portion of the market suffered significant damage during that period, evidenced by the bullet holes on the north wall of the west building. This bustling market complex comprises two buildings and open-air stalls, creating a vibrant showcase of commerce.
