What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Bez Gwiazdek offers a unique and elegant dining experience with its innovative tasting menus that showcase regional Polish cuisine. Diners praise the beautiful presentation, superb flavors, and excellent wine selection, noting the attentive service. While many find the experience to be fine dining worthy, some felt that not all dishes reached a 'wow' level for the price point, and specific flavor profiles might not appeal to everyone.
"Had a fantastic dinner here a few days ago. The tasting menu provided a great selection of dishes that I understand are modern twists on local ingredients and traditional food.
The dishes look beautiful and are very well made, some are "only" good and some were really superb. The overall experience, also considering the excellent service, is of very fine dining."

"Wonderful experience I had here, from the moment they unlock the door and guide you to your table, to the first bite of an array of tasty deliciousness prepared with love and from the freshest ingredients, you will have a fabulous time here. I personally recommend it as a date spot or of two friends love food and need an intimate space to catch up, I chose the former. Wine selection was top notch and decently priced, the food came out in a timely matter and never felt slowed nor rushed. All the staff was punctual, kind and never over bearing. I would return in a different season to see how the chef deals with the changing of the months. 6 stars"

"Ate at Benz Gwiazdek on my second last night in Warsaw. The food was excellent and other than a slight miscommunication due to my lack of Polish the service was very good.
I’ve taken two stars off because at their price point, I expect many of the tasting menu dishes to wow me. Only one or two did (the pumpkin 3 ways was amazing). By “wow”, I mean you slow down eating, take smaller bites, making the dish last as long as possible. Where the dish is an experience.
The dishes here were well cooked, great ingredients, but not many elevated themselves to that higher level. Whereas I ate at Fino in Gdansk two nights earlier and almost every (a la carte) dish and taster did so, for much less cost.
Additionally, Bez Gwiazdek had extras in Caviar and truffles with several dishes. These not only added significantly to the cost if adopted, but really raise the question which dish is the chef’s vision? After paying for the tasting menu, am I not getting their vision? Or is the extra cost moving you away from it?
Overall, I walked away with no desire to return. I didn’t bother sending pictures to friends and family. Which shouldn’t be the case at that price point."

Best restaurants in Warsaw - Falstaff
In Polish, the name means “without stars”, but the owners of the restaurant and its chef, Robert Trzópek, are definitely being misleading because the food here, elegant and intelligent, clearly deserves those very stars. Literally every detail is made with a clear focus on freshness, locality, and minimalism, and the influence of New Nordic Cuisine is evident in both the dishes and the approach. The menu at Bez Gwiazdek changes monthly and features set menus, with the main idea revolving not just around Polish cuisine, but trying to represent a specific region: Silesian goose gizzards confit with mushrooms, Tench fish in sour cream from Warmia and Mazury, or Hołubcie Bielkowskie from Western Pomerania – these are just some examples of dishes that have been part of the local tasting menu at different times.

Your Next Dining Destination (Really): Warsaw
Another night, a collaborative dinner hosted by several of Warsaw’s top chefs at chef Robert Trzópek’s Bez Gwiazdek (“No Stars”) included foie gras (after the tartare) with mead and black “czernina” duck blood soup, which a local food blogger told me is known colloquially as rejection soup, as the a serving of the black broth was apparently a sort of historical blow-off.
