Alewino started as a small wine shop, where one could find a huge variety of the most unusual bottles, and it was here that Warsaw´s modern wine culture was born. Gradually, Alewino grew into a fully-fledged wine restaurant in the courtyard of the fashionable Mokotowska Street, and did so beautifully, becoming a truly iconic place. Of course, the main focus here is wine, but the food, which became more and more elaborate with each year of the restaurant’s existence, has ultimately become the perfect complement to the local wine collection.

​Ale Wino opened in 2013 and is located at 48 Mokotowska street, just one block away from Downtown Warsaw. What is beautiful about it, is that you feel far away from the busy area – to get to Mokotowska street, you need to go through a gate and take an extra turn before entering probably the most charming bistro patio in Warsaw. From there, you will find the entrance to Ale Wino.

Alewino is a simple idea to combine the best wines + delicious food + perfect service + relaxed atmosphere into one. In creating it we wanted our guests to feel as we would want to feel in a restaurant. We intertwine two gastronomical concepts; that of a wine bar and a restaurant, creating an outstanding and distinctive place which we are very proud of.

The best evenings in Warsaw often start with a glass of wine at Alewino. Chef Daniel Ulnicki blends Polish traditions with contemporary cooking – his Asian-inspired broth and signature halibut keep bringing people back for more. Sommelier Damian Zakrzewski has put together an impressive wine list with over 250 options from around the world.

Especially, in the summertime, when you can sit on a warm evening in its garden hidden in the backyard of old tenement houses in Mokotowska. When the place opened several years ago, it was supposed to be a wine bar. However, when the talented, yet humble chef Sebastian Wełpa joined the team, the real character of the place took shape.

It started life as a wine shop before developing into a rustic, modern wine-bar-cum-restaurant divided over 4 cosy rooms. The menus might be concise but portions are generous, with classic Polish recipes reworked in a modern manner. Over 250 great value wines are available by the glass.

You can’t talk about Warsaw’s best wine bars and fail to mention Ale Wino. Now considered a veteran when bunched against so many young guns, this warming labyrinth feels snug, intimate and even a little rustic. Around 250 wines have been amassed and they go brilliantly with the food.

Ale Wino is yet another place that works great for many different occasions. We’ve gone there frequently in the summer and I guess we will be back as soon as it gets warmer. Ale Wino is a great choice if you want a bottle of wine (or two :)) accompanied with great food.

Ale Wino: This is one of my favorite restaurants and wine shops in Warsaw. The flavors and options available are incredible. I would recommend ordering for the table so you can share family-style and try more than one dish.
