Opening in 2016, Karakter is listed in the Michelin Guide (the horsemeat tartare is highly recommended) and has already made a buzz amongst the adventurous foodies for its slightly unconventional and daring menu offering – offal, horse sweetbread, ostrich gizzard etc. From an extensive ‘daring’ menu, we tasted the Ostrich eye fillet with a choice of squid confit in olive oil with garlic and pepperoncino, baguette with smoked butter, compressed cucumber, crème fraiche; Beef cheek in chocolate pepper sauce, avocado and fermented garlic; Duck breast glazed in ponzu/celery -cider puree, rhubarb, cherry sauce with black lila.

The rest of the restaurants have received Michelin Plate Symbol: Farina, 3 Rybki, Pod Różą, Bianca, NOTA_RESTO, Szara, Kogel Mogel, Albertina, Enoteka Pergamin, Copernicus, Pod Nosem, Amarylis, Karakter, Szara Kazimierz, Hana Sushi, ZaKładka. When it comes to comfort it is worth to mention Copernicus as it is the only Krakow’s restaurant that has received 3 fork and spoon symbols. The rest of the mentioned restaurants has received 1 or 2 such prizes.

Located in the Kazimierz area is a nice restaurant characterized by its elegant and discreet interior and beautifully illuminated. The service is excellent and the gastronomic offer at affordable prices allows the visitor to enjoy a delicious lunch without major risks. In you will find a menu with farm-to-table meals, including unusual main dishes such as escalope of horse gizzard and bull testicles.

A pretty fresh place in the Jewish district, already mentioned before in our autumn “Best 5” Krakow post. That’s the second restaurant with the menu prepared by Daniel Myśliwiec – a French cuisine and offal expert. While his former menu included plenty of French classics, the one at Karakter is much crazier and more courageous.

Karakter is a “restaurant with character”, so you can expect there tasty, original dishes and unique interior as well. It has a very interesting menu and the quality of both food and drinks is very good. Surprising combinations of flavours and really nice wine are the showcases of this place.

Karakter has a chill atmosphere and is one of those restaurants where everything on the menu jumps out at you. For starters, they have less common tartare dishes made with horse and ostrich. They also have a veal brain pate and an orzo pasta with beef marrow.

I’ve already mentioned them in the lunches chapter, but this place has much more to offer you. This is cuisine flowing with butter and laden with lard. You must try the long-roasted beef rib, and don’t be afraid of dishes which names don’t sound familiar.

Google describes Karakter as a “meat dish restaurant.” Which is hardly unusual for Poland. To be fair, seafood also features. But vegetables take a back seat to meaty dishes with flavors borrowed from around the globe, with a hint of Italian favoritism.

Of course, there couldn’0t be a shortage of small but cosy establishments: the perfect hummus shop Hummus Amamamusi (Beera Meiselsa 4), as well as the unobtrusive bistro Zazie (ul. Józefa 34), and the bright and uncompromising Karakter (Brzozowa 17).

Modern Cuisine, € As the name suggests Karakter (character) does things with a bit of attitude. The restaurant is lively, even loud, with gorgeously presented food, focused around offal dishes like horse meat tartare.Address: Brzozowa 17, Kraków.

Karakter (Brzozowa 17, www) – one of the most important openings of 2016. I go back there often and am never disappointed. Courageous, incredibly original menu, cool interior, good wine and a very attractive 3-course lunch menu.

Karakter - I was attracted to visit this place due to it s name, but in the end turned out to be a very good idea : a cozy, friendly and tasty place!
