Though there may not be a dizzying number of restaurant choices in Puerto Princesa, the best ones do stick around. Just like Kalui, Kinabuch’s has gone through several expansions in the long time it’s been in the business to accommodate its ever-growing clientele. This place specializes in Filipino food and they do it well.

The halo-halo from Kinabuchs Grill was quite good but I feel like you could get the same standard from any other dessert shop. Don’t make the same mistake as us and saved all the halo-halo eating at this restaurant because it was known for it and ended up missing out on all the other opportunities of eating it whenever we spotted one. Halo-halo is a vibrant and refreshing Filipino dessert that offers a delightful blend of sweet fruits, beans, jellies, finely crushed ice and creamy toppings.

Head over to the über-laid back Kinabuch’s Grill & Bar and order their best-selling crocodile sisig and tamilok (a type of mollusc living inside mangrove trees). Meanwhile, Palaweño Brewery offers craft beer infused with homegrown ingredients like Palawan mangoes, tangguli (local palm candy), and wild Palawan honey. Aside from being the only craft beer place in Palawan, it’s also the first female-run craft brewery in the Philippines!

On our first night, Kuya Arthur, the very friendly tricycle driver suggested that we should also try the Kinabuchs Grill and Bar. We were lucky that night since we got a table immediately upon arrival since they require reservations due to the number of people eating at the restaurant. We ordered sinigang na ulo ng isda, grilled blue marlin, bicol express and sizzling mixed misono and a set of bagoong and garlic rice.

If you’re feeling really adventurous and want to try something truly unique (and maybe a little disturbing) during your visit to Palawan, then you must try the famous tamilok at Kinabuchs Grill & Bar. Tamilok is a type of mollusk that is harvested from the mangrove trees in Palawan. It looks like a long, slimy worm, but is actually a type of shell-less saltwater clam, sometimes called woodworm or shipworm.

Ok ok… I would have to admit that I’m not really a fan of Tamilok (or any kind of worm), but I included it in this list because it’s considered as a popular exotic Palawan delicacy which should be experienced by everyone visiting Palawan. I believe there are a lot of restos who also serve Tamilok but we tried ours at Kinabuchs located along the main road (Rizal Avenue).

For an amazing night on the island, don’t hesitate to visit the Kinabuchs Bar and Grill, Crossing Bridge Café, and the Tiki Restobar. Kinabuchs is a place for those who love the open-air and are not afraid to try some Filipino delicacies. They do serve the usual beers and Filipino favorites, but they also offer the tamilok – woodworms that are said to taste like oysters.

For truly great food, drinks, and entertainment go to Kinabuch’s Restaurant and Grill. Firefly lights, giant flat screen televisions mounted in every corner, outdoor pool tables, and a great sound system make this restaurant the most popular evening hangout in town. The restaurant seats more than 200 guests, but you’ll want to get there early because it fills up fast.

A great place for your evening meal and it would be my first choice if I only had one night in Puerto. I have been there many times and have found the food and service to be consistently good. Kinabuch Grill is set in a garden with seating for more than 200 people, which in the peak season they seem to have no trouble filling.

In addition to these exotic fares, they have a pretty extensive menu and we really enjoyed our crispy pata and roasted chicken that go so well with the local beers. Note that what we wanted was a cheap hotel near Puerto Princesa’s top restaurants Ka Lui and Kinabuchs. We thought that it would be much more convenient for us to choose a hotel near restaurants because we really wanted to try these two restos. But if you want a hotel at the beach, Casa Linda is certainly NOT for you.

KINABUCHS GRILL AND BAR – owned by motorcycle enthusiast legend Edward “Butch” Chase, the restaurant features open-air dining and exotic dishes, some made from crocodile meat. It is located along the main highway and strategically near to many establishments. Operating hours are from 4:00PM to 12:00AM.

A leap from Puerto Princesa’s laid-back lifestyle, this resto-bar is almost always crowded, with its busy waiters jumping from one table to another to attend to their customers needs. There’s not much for an ambiance, but food here is very good. I loved their gising-gising, gambas, and pork sisig.

While delicious Filipino fare was a constant at restaurants like Kinabuchs Grill and Bar, KaLui and Badjao Seafront Restaurant, there were also exotic offerings that more experimental diners could try including crocodile sisig, tamilok (shipworms) and yes, the decidedly phallic dessert at KaLui.

While their beers are also available in numerous establishments in the city (such as Ka Lui’s, Kinabuch’s Bar & Grill and Badjao Seafront) and as far as El Nido and select bars and restaurants in Metro Manila, the tap room provides a cozy venue for you to chat with the brewers themselves.

Kinabuch’s Grill and Bar didn’t take a long ride from our hotel, Aziza Paradise Hotel. Although if we were coming from the airport, the restaurant would take less of our travel time. I was worried they won’t be able to accommodate our group of 5 after seeing every table occupied.

Another local favorite is Kinabuch Grill & Bar, a laid back restaurant and full bar where you can eat both classic and exotic food. How about Crocodile Sisig or Tamilok for dinner or midnight snack?. They have a large TV screen by the parking lot where you can watch sports.

For my very first meal in Palawan, I ate in Kinabuchs Grill and Bar. Located in Rizal Avenue, you surely won’t miss this restaurant, especially when coming from the airport. In fact, while on Rizal Avenue, you’ll definitely pass most of Puerto Princesa’s famous restaurants.

After our dinner date at Ka Lui’s, we walked a few meters and arrived at this one other recommended place called Kinabuchs. The place is a restobar which I think catered mostly to the male population. Just look at the decorations of the place.

As we touched down Palawan, we moved our way to Barracuda Inn, Puerto Princesa and decided to have lunch at the Kinabuch’s Grill and Bar in Rizal Avenue, Puerto Princesa,Palawan. Both the food and the customer service were worth-recommending.

The pioneer in nightlife partying in Puerto Princesa, Kinabuchs is a favorite hangout for locals and tourists. It offers the best of both worlds. It’s a great place to eat with your family and at the same time, have a drink with friends.

Then the Tamilok and Crocodile Sisig should be right up your alley. Both are served at Kinabuchs along with Filipino classics like Kalderetang Kambing and Crispy Pata. The restaurant is also popular for its ambiance and outdoor seating.

Kinabuchs is another popular stop, as are Gold Moon Disco and Tokyo Kitchen. Tom-Toms, located in the Manalo Extension, is well-visited by the local trike-drivers. They keep coming back for the wide selection of liquor, wine, and beer.

A popular spot to grab a bite of this tasty, oyster-like delicacy is the Kinabuchs Grill and Bar in Puerto Princesa City, which also offers its deep-fried woodworm recipe. It’s definitely a must-try for first time tourists in Palawan!

On our first night, we went to Kinabuch’s along Rizal Avenue. It’s a resto bar with outdoor widescreen (for sports / games I guess?) that is best known for serving exotic Filipino dishes. Case in point: Tamilok and Crocodile Sisig.

There, you’ll find numerous bars, some with live bands, such as Kataboom (Reggae style bar), the Tiki bar (the biggest in town), E-Republic (comedy music bar), or Kinabuchs (outdoor sport bar and restaurant), just to name a few.

Located along the main road of Puerto Princesa proper, Kinabuchs Grill and Bar is where you can sample familiar Filipino dishes, the international dishes, and even the unique crocodile meat Palawan has to offer off their menu!

Some popular ones include Kinabuch’s Grill and Bar, KaLui Restaurant, and Badjao Seafront Restaurant. These establishments are known for their authentic Palawan dishes such as seafood, coconut-based curries, and grilled meats.

Kinabuchs Grill & Bar Palawan serve good quality local foods at cosy environment. Foods and drinks are reasonably priced with good service. Place can get rather crowded and noisy throughout the night.

The street is now filled with food options, although in the past it was pretty much just here, Kinabuchs and street food.
