Reviews Summary

Cafe Ilang-Ilang at The Manila Hotel offers an extensive international buffet with a wide array of dishes and exceptional service. While many praise the variety and the attentive staff, some find the price point high for the overall food quality and experience, with occasional comments on food temperature and ambiance. However, it remains a popular choice for those with a hearty appetite seeking a memorable dining experience.

"This is the best buffet I ever had in my life 🤪
The food is delicious and there's a lot of choices. There is Filipino, Korean, Chinese, Indian, Japanese food etc. The desserts are great, even though the dessert section is small. The staff and crew are very well-trained

One of the best dinner buffets I ever had! ♥️"

"Paid a little over 4,000/person for a buffet dinner... 1st, the parking. It wasn't enough, although valet parking is available, it can be a hassle especially since we visited after work where we had a few office valuables in the car. 2nd, the ambiance, place can be a bit noisy. Space is very cramped (reminded me of a Chinese restaurant). Then there's the buffet spread which can be a bit confusing (reminded me of Spirals). The drinks and Italian section is even in a separate section (or room)! Food, it wasn't worth the 4K I paid for. Selection is there, but nothing stands out. Siewmai is the only bright spot I found but there's no way I can eat 4,000 worth of siewmai. Indian food was ok, flavour was on the milder side, but its not bad. Other than the siewmai and Indian food, only bright spot I can remember was their pizza. It was freshly made and nothing beats pizza that's freshly cooked. Compared to other hotel buffets... the service here is really (really) very good. I was honestly not happy with the food, the place and the parking situation, but their waiters and servers were really good and pleasing. I think this place is just not for me, but if someone is inviting you here and its free, then you should give it a try."

"Massive buffet spread. The variety of food is amazing and delicious too! It was just very expensive though and crowded. But the staff who was assigned to our table was so nice and accommodating. It’s okay for a one time visit, worth it if you have a big appetite."

The Top 10 Restaurants In Manila

The Manila Hotel is surprisingly quiet about its F&B offerings, but Café Ilang-Ilang is one of those long-established outlets that’s stood the test of time and still manages to delight diners. The Filipino menu, featuring classic dishes such as kare-kare (stew with thick, peanut sauce) and pork adobo, is second to none. Lots of seating options and a dedicated coffee bar make this ambient haunt even more inviting.

Oldest Chinese restaurants in Metro Manila

According to the late food chronicler Doreen Gamboa Fernandez, this eatery got its name from the street where it is located, not from the flower. It was originally a noodle shop opened by a cook from Xiamen named Mr Nua and his son Eng Guan, and became a fully licensed restaurant in 1945. But unlike the panciteria around Plaza Sta Cruz, Ilang Ilang did not benefit from a lunchtime crowd, it was their dinner service that was more lucrative.
