Reviews Summary

Ipar's offers an authentic Spanish ambiance and a wide selection of tapas and paellas at affordable prices. While many praise the tender Solomillo a la Pobre and the delightful flan, some reviews mention inconsistent service, particularly concerning takeout orders prioritizing over dine-in reservations. The restaurant's rustic charm and flavorful dishes are highlights for most, though a few diners found the food overpriced for the quality or experienced issues with preparation and temperature.

"Love this place. I’ve been wanting to try it and since the spot next door is closed ended up here for lunch. I arrived a little bit before 1 o’clock. Even though they close at 2 o’clock. The staff was still very friendly and accommodating. Especially Michelle. Tried many different options. Mushroom soup, the chorizo, shrimp, croquettes, and the little fried chicken strips. Loved the Cetas and chicken. Thank you so much for being so accommodating even though you were closing soon."

"The food was excellent. It was expensive but it was really good. It was good to have wine with my food. The service was good and the atmosphere was great. Tapas is great you get a little bit of this and a little bit of that... if you go there and don't know how it works or what you should get ask the staff and they will help you to make choices"

"I ordered paella de la casa (620) and solomillo a lo pobre (600). The place has Spanish ambiance but the service was bad. It is a small place but the waiters tend to crowd at the bar area.
I even had to call their landline to call the attention of one of their camareros.
Fast forward, I asked the chef or manager to ask three questions, the chef came.
1. Is this an authentic Spanish restaurant? > he said yes.
2. Why is there no socarrat on the paella when it took 45 minutes to prepare and it was not served hot as expected for its wait time? > he barely answered.
3. Why did I find a strand of hair wrapped on one of the clams when sanitation is expected in the kitchen (disregarding the cost of food here)? > he apologized and offered to take the paella off and offered a complementary flan instead.

Taste of food:
- solomillo reminds me of light flavored traditional Filipino beef steak. The meat is really tender and delicious. The potatoes on the side are not crispy but that’s forgivable.
- paella somehow tastes traditional but it lacks the socarrat that every paella is expected to have. This is a basic expectation. Los mariscos son frescas, the sausage tastes authentic somehow.
- flan is smooth and perfectly made. The bitterness of the sauce complements the flan well.

If I were to be asked if I’m coming back? Maybe, I don’t know."

The Culture Trip

Great Restaurants In Cebu, Philippines

Bringing the traditional Spanish dining experience to Cebu is what Ipar’s intends to do with its tapas restaurant serving up all sorts of dishes from regions all over Spain. Timeless classics of the cuisine jostle for place on the menu as tortillas and paellas take center stage. An intimate restaurant that was the brainchild of chef and owner Ipar O. Miranda, the whole place oozes an air of Spanish nostalgia with the walls decked out with pictures of matadors and flamenco dancers in full swing.
