Within a five-minute walk, we hit the waterfront and stumbled into Capital Bistro Panama, a bustling spot with an unbeatable view of the Panama City skyline. For our first stop, we each grabbed a drink – sangria for me, Manhattan for him – plus an appetizer to share (the salmon crispy rice which was a major score). The view here is enough of a draw – I could have sat here for hours watching the lights bounce off the water.

At the very entrance of Casco Viejo, one of Panama City’s bars stands out among the rest, tempting prospective patrons with an enticing view of the Pacific. Capital Bistro is a scintillating outdoor bar on the banks of the water – any closer and you would be in it. Their scrumptious signature cocktails coupled with the string lit ocean view, makes this one very magical evening out indeed.

Of the ones we visited, our favorite was Capital Bistro Panama. It’s located right on the edge of Casco Viejo and looks onto the bay, with the Cinta Costera stretching out below you, and the downtown skyline straight ahead. (It’s just across the street from the Nomada Eatery.) It’s a great place to watch and photograph the sunset (if you want the downtown skyline in your photos).
