Sitting in the shady parque Parque de Los Novios, this Greek Mediterranean spot has been doing its thing for over a decade now, and there’s a reason why this place always has a line of people outside waiting for a table and attention from the national press. The pizzas are the best in the city, but the other half of the menu, ranging from steaks to moule a la creme, will have you coming back time and time again. Top tip: the lamb dip from the starters is unparalleled, as is the smoked salmon carpaccio.

Ya había perdido las esperanzas de conocer Ouzo en este viaje a Santa Marta, 3 días pidiendo reserva, llamando insistentemente, tratando de conseguir a un amigo de otro amigo, para que me ayudara a entrar allí… palancas, súplicas, explicaciones y nada… todo había sido en vano!. Pero la noche del Viernes, a eso de las 7pm, porque había dejado mi teléfono por si acaso, me llamaron para asignarme una mesa. ¿Valió la pena la procesión?

Ouzo (Carrera 3 #19-29) merges Greek and Italian cuisine with friendly service and an outlandish cocktail list. Few places can match the stone oven-baked pizzas, freshly made pasta or the pan-seared octopus with feta cheese. Head chef, Michael McMurdo, who trained in New York, lays claim to having elevated the cuisine in Santa Marta to a high level and he’s constantly crafting classic Mediterranean dishes with modern twists.

It began with a Mediterranean proposal leaning towards the Greek and pizzas in a wood-fired oven. Although Mike McMurdo had trained at the Culinary Institute of Education in Manhattan, the chef became a chef in the kitchen of a Michelin-starred Greek restaurant called Anthos (now closed) in New York. In fact, in honor of that apprenticeship, he baptized the restaurant in the boyfriend's park Ouzo.

Ouzo is our out and out personal favourite in Santa Marta (except for Casa Carolina’s own restaurant, Eli’s of course!) and we never hesitate to send our guests there who always return delighted. Ouzo’s diverse menu of tasty Greek and Mediterranean-influence dishes; pastas, fresh seafood, delicious brick-oven pizzas features a great choices for vegetarians, fish lovers as well as carnivores.

Aunque Mike McMurdo se había formado en el Institute Culinary of Education de Manhattan, el chef se hizo cocinero en los fogones de un restaurante griego de una estrella Michelin llamado Anthos (hoy cerrado), en Nueva York.

Ouzo: Este restaurante puede ser el más famoso de Santa Marta y pronto sabrán por qué. Definitivamente su certificado de excelencia en TripAdvisor está más que merecido, lo recomiendo para esas noches en donde quieras disfrutar de una cena romántica en el centro histórico de la ciudad, su menú está basado en comida mediterránea, deliciosas pizzas hechas al horno, postres y cocteles tradicionales pero con su toque personal y sodas caseras.

Another centrally located restaurant on Parque de los Novios is Ouzo, which brings Greek cuisine to Latin America. The menu features Mediterranean cuisine with a touch of Colombia, from homemade pasta and roasted lamb with orzo to fresh seafood and wood-fired pizzas. Other dishes customers love are the Greek paella, gyros, and glazed beef.

Very close to Ouzo, in the next corner, you will find Radio Burger. It is a restaurant where you can enjoy the pleasure of eating one of the best hamburgers in Santa Marta. It is the perfect plan to talk and chat while you enjoy and appreciate the retro style of the place.

There are many restaurants and terraces on the Parque de los Novios in Santa Marta, but one outstanding place is called Ouzo. Not only will you try here delicious Mediterranean dishes, also the location is great for observing people, especially in the evening.

Our favorites were Ouzo, right on Parque de Los Novios; Serena Tropical Bistro on the waterfront; La Panetteria for excellent cappuccinos and breakfast; and Gnam for gelato (a must!). A runner-up for coffee and snacks is Ikaro Cafe near Parque de Los Novios.

A good way to start your weekend is to head to the Parque de Los Novios and the Mediterranean-themed restaurant Ouzo. I consider this to be the GPS coordinates of the best wood-fired pizzas in town and it caters to both vegetarians and carnivores alike.

If you’re staying in Santa Marta then you can’t miss eating at Ouzo!. In six years of returning to Colombia this is one place I always return. The top floor provides a romantic setting overlooking the main square and serves delicious tapas.

A Greek and Mediterranean restaurant called Ouzo is located at Parque de Los Novios. The interior is decorated with whitewashed walls and flower boxes giving a visitor the feeling of being on a Greek island. There’s also outdoor seating.

Ouzo: Ouzo fue el primer restaurante en el que comí en Santa Marta y definitivamente debería estar en tu lista para visitar. Se especializan en cocina creativa mediterránea y todo lo que mis amigos y yo pedimos fue excepcional.

Ouzo, outdoor dining directly on the Parque de Los Novios, is also popular but is only quiet if one opts for inside seating. I had mussels and salad which was fine, but most reviews say that the meat is best.

Lomo Queso azul” lomo fino en salsa de queso azul, papas en bastones y ensalada fresca. Un buen gusto para darse en estas vacaciones!
