Reviews Summary

Fagn is celebrated for its creative Scandinavian cuisine and exceptional fine dining experience, with many praising the innovative dishes and the attentive service. However, some guests have noted issues with pacing and value, particularly concerning the wine pairings and vegetarian options. The intimate atmosphere and unique flavor combinations are frequently highlighted as positive aspects, making it a memorable, though occasionally debated, culinary destination.

"Creative and delicious food. The juice pairings are spot on. If I insist on finding a flaw, it is that I had to pour my own water. For a Michelin starred fine dining restaurant, I would not have expected that. Otherwise, it was perfect"

Jessica Rosado

"The food was very good, but the "premium" wine was NOT premium quality, and each pour was no more than 3 ounces at most. The cost for 4 small glasses of wine was $183 USD, but I looked up the pricing for each of the wines I was served, and none were more than a $30 USD per bottle."

Cheryl H

"It's my first visit to Michelin restaurant and it was great. From the first until last minute everything is well-prepared and feels comfortable: service, attention to details, stuff. Service itself is not visible: they come, serve the food, provide details and open to answer any questions. I asked a lot, and got all answers. Very polite, calm and professional.
Food itself - something that is hard to find in the city, I don't know even if it's possible. A lot of fish dishes, I believe it's mostly in honor of Norwegian history and easy fish availability. Only one dish was with meat and that duck, save God your soul, was amazing, serving was like a piece of meet looks like an island in the forest surrounded by sea and rocks. Very impressive.
I would definitely recommend if you can go there and experience Michelin level of restaurant."

The Best Wine Bars In Trondheim Norway According To A Local Sommelier

There’s no need to pay Michelin-star prices to sample the outstanding wine at acclaimed restaurant Fagn, one of the first two restaurants in Trondheim to receive the prestigious award in 2019. Just head upstairs to its new bistro where the food is just as impressive, or you can simply enjoy the excellent wine carefully chosen by Fagn’s sommelier, Kenneth Bergmann. “It offers a casual setting for a light bite or just a glass, where you can choose from the main restaurant’s cellar list featuring some great wines from across the world at competitive prices,” says Jahnsen.

Restaurants in Trondheim

One of the most famous restaurants in Trondheim, Fagn has won international awards for its inventive cuisine that harks back to the dishes that many Norwegians ate during their childhoods, then takes them in new and unexpected directions. No need to decide among the many interesting flavor combinations: you'll have a front-row seat as the chefs in the open kitchen prepare 10- or 20-course tasting menus. No one will rush you through your meal---in fact, they urge you to spend the whole evening in the ground-floor dining room.

Back in Trondheim, Norway’s only master tea blender is working on a cold-brew pairing menu for Sanoi, the new fusion bistro of chef Jonas Naavik (who put the city on Europe’s gastronomic map back in 2019 with Michelin-starred Fagn). Hanne Charlotte Heggberget’s Gravraak Teateliér tea atelier and boutique graces a backstreet in Bakklandet, the oldest part of Trondheim, where 18th-century wharf houses squat above the Nidelven River and locals fish for wild salmon between June and August.
