After humble beginnings in Frankton's former Church of St George, Hamilton pioneering craft brewery now has seven taprooms across the Waikato. Now known as the Good George Dining Hall, the original high-ceilinged ecclesiastical space is ideal for weekend drinks – try the Fog City Hazy IPA with a wood-fired pizza – or adjourn to Matamata's Good Merchant after visiting Hobbiton, or George's Beach Club after bushwalking and beaches around Raglan. Technically we didn’t hit this brewery up but their brews were available at multiple locations we visited so it was easy to try a selection of their beers while in NZ. They have venues all over the place as well so check out where they’re at and fit it into your trip accordingly. Fun fact: If you visit Hobbiton and grab a beer at the end of the tour, the stout is brewed by Good George.

Pre Albert The Olde English Pub and Restaurant in Waipa has no menu available, but can choose from many other options such as Garlic Bread or Crumbed Camembert from The Club. Whangamata Pizza & Takeaways offers many options including Chips and Garlic Pizza Bread. Pita Pit includes a wide range like The Family Feast or The Protein Pack.

Good George Dining Hall on Somerset Street is the original home of the award-winning Good George beers and ciders. Built inside a 1960s church, the venue has a sunny beer garden and the dining hall itself. With regular brewery tours, a delectable menu and great event spaces - Good George is where the magic happens.

They own a few different pubs around the city, but the Good George Brewing and Dining Hall is housed in an old church. I think this is one of the reasons my parents like it so much – it feels more “English” than other New Zealand pubs. Naturally, it has good beer (and cider) and the food’s decent too.

Established in an old 1960's church you can sit inside or underneath the brew tanks in the garden bar. Watch the brewers craft the Good Beer and Cider on site with weekly/monthly tours available. With bar style food available including burgers and pizzas, you can enjoy your lunch or dinner.

Yup, Good George was born in the old St. George’s Church building (so no prizes for guessing where the company got its name from). You can go and try their wares in their original building, although they have had to make some adjustments and expand it because the business became so popular.
