Snapshot of a lovely evening at King of Snake. We ordered the “Trust the King” and so glad we did. There was a large variety of dishes including the Spinach leaf, marinated yellow fin tuna, Penang curry of beef cheek and so much more. Would Trust the King again 🐍👑 #christchurchnz #foodie

Reviews Summary

King of Snake is celebrated for its exceptional Asian fusion cuisine and stylish, atmospheric dining room. Diners rave about the creative dishes, particularly the 'Trust the King' tasting menu, and the attentive, knowledgeable service. However, some guests have noted issues with slow drink service and minor inconsistencies.

"Dined in and ordered the Trust the King AKA trust the chief to bring you a selection of meals of their choice. They still ask you for preferences, certain proteins we feel like which I thought was great.
Oysters - delicious
Carpaccio - delicious although my preference would be slightly thinner pieces but you can’t complain with more meat.
Crispy duck - amazing, crispy, sauce well balanced.
Tuna salad - refreshing, light, good flavours
Dessert - pretty tasty too

No complaints here and our waiter Spencer was amazing, shout out to him. Good chat, great suggestions, knew the menu and helped us select cocktails.

Thanks team"

"We were a group of 13 with a set menu. Some of our group had dietary restrictions. They brought out specific meals for those people and advised what they could and couldn't have due to the ingredients. Very impressed that they took that time to check what they could and couldn't eat. The staff explained each dish clearly. Service was efficient and every dish was delicious. Wine list was comprehensive if a bit expensive.
Decor and atmosphere was a winner. Would definitely go again."

"My family and I came here twice in 3 days. I felt completely satisfied with the quality of the food and the service. Most of the dishes carry the essence of Southeast Asian cuisine, yet they are also creatively crafted, giving me a feeling of both familiarity and excitement when trying them. A worth-to-go spot for a fine dining in Christchurch CBD 👍 Reservation is recommended."

Don't be fooled by the unassuming alleyway outside: this chic restaurant and bar delivers fine Asian fusion cuisine on all levels. It's hard to recommend particular dishes because they are all exquisitely prepared and taste so good, served in a striking, seductive setting. Try the spinach leaf with roasted coconut, peanuts, garlic, chili, and lime for a stunning starter or the light, crunchy texture of moong dal and mixed seed salad with fresh lime and avocado.

The Christchurch answer to Sydney and Melbourne’s cultish Longrain, King of Snake is a sensory whirl through the cuisines of south-east Asia, with a strong suit in Thai. Start your evening in the lantern-hung Victoria Street dining room with an Asian-accented cocktail (the signature King of Snake packs ginger-chilli heat along with vodka and Grand Marnier) before segueing to snappy snacks (hit the deep-fried oysters with wasabi mayo) and luscious mains such as a duck jungle curry that’s fragrant with kaffir lime.
