In 1931, an American architect renovated a kasbah mansion and turned it into El Morocco Club. Today it's three venues in one: a sophisticated restaurant serving a fusion of Mediterranean and Moroccan cuisine, a pretty café terrace, and a seductively lit piano bar. The restaurant menu features fare such as foie gras, seafood couscous, and lemon meringue pie.

The El Morocco Club is a kasbah landmark with a fearsomely popular speakeasy downstairs and a moody red-and-black restaurant upstairs designed as a homage to the legendary New York jazz club of the same name. It’s the brainchild of Vincent Coppée and Oscar Badji, transplants from Belgium and Senegal who arrived a decade ago and never left. We had our first meal in Tangier at El Morrocco Club and loved every dish we tried on the menu. EL Morrocco Club was the most expensive, but one of the best meals we had in Morocco.

The gastronomic proposal is based on traditional Moroccan cuisine. The place is nice and is in the heart of Tangier. Its decoration is reminiscent of the old New York jazz clubs.

El Morocco Club, Rue Kachla, Place du Tabor: the right attention. Very good and decorated dishes, small amount and high price but very good and nice and original recipes.
