A treasured find in the centre of Morocco, Chez Hassan - Bab Kasbah serves real Tangier food that is popular with both locals and visitors. This restaurant is well-known for its delicious, fresh food, which includes mouthwatering meatball tajines and succulent kebabs that are cooked in front of everyone on an open outside grill. In addition, the restaurant promises a genuine Moroccan culinary experience with its mouthwatering selection of seafood and classic Tangier soup.

For something more substantial, one of our favourites is Chez Hassan Bab Kasbah restaurant (Rue de la Kasbah, 8), which offers homemade food (the tagines are excellent) and good value for money. Take note also of Le Salon Blue (Rue de la Kasbah, 8), which, in addition to excellent food, offers lovely views. Hamadi (Rue de la Kasbah) is another restaurant that, although geared towards tourists, offers delicious set menus with traditional flavours.

The tiny restaurant has a few outdoor tables dressed in traditional striped Rif fabrics where you can take a pew and order up a storm of chargrilled chicken, lamb or seafood brochettes. But first have a few of Hassan’s brined olives especially the ones in harissa. The seafood brochette is a winner with tender charred prawns, squid rings and three types of fish, or you could just opt for some octopus or jumbo shrimp.

Chez Hassan is a great restaurant located at the bottom of the hill from Kasbart. We ate here several times as it’s probably one of our top three favorite restaurants in Tangier. It’s an inexpensive but delicious Moroccan restaurant that serves many different types of meat and seafood tagine and grilled brochette dishes.

For an authentic Moroccan dining experience, Chez Hassan is a must-visit. Located in Petit Socco, this charming family-run restaurant serves traditional dishes made with time-honored recipes. The warm, welcoming atmosphere and home-style cooking make it a favorite among both locals and travelers.

Besides its appealing red table covers, this has good Moroccan food. I’ve had the excellent seafood tajine, kebab sticks and salad, for under 100 dhs for the meal. My favourite tajine in Morocco is lamb and prune, and on Fridays the tradition is for couscous, which is everywhere.

Hopefully you aren’t too full of pastries because this is the next stop on your one day Tangier itinerary. And perhaps one of the most awaited things to do in Tangier because it’s now time for lunch. Chez Hassan is a small but busy restaurant just a short walk from Grand Socco.

Catering mostly to the tourist crowd walking between Grand Socco and the Kasbah, this streetside restaurant serves better food than most in the immediate area. The menu can be a bit hit and miss so go with a group and order a few things and pray for a winner.

Moroccan Mediterranean Vegetarian Friendly.A good restaurant experience in Morocco, recommended by our riad host for lunch. We liked it so much that we ate there for dinner too. The kefta is really good, but what stole the show for me was the grilled squid.

For a more budget-friendly option, Chez Hassan offers fresh seafood at a great price. Located on the main street of the Casbah, this restaurant is known for its delicious fish tagines that change depending on what’s in season.

Chez Hassan is easily one of Tangier’s most popular restaurants. So, do not expect to have this place all to yourself. I would also try and stop by early since their is usually a line.
