Best Restaurants In Marrakech, Morocco
A banquet hall that attempts to return diners to the era of extravagance and luxury of the Moroccan pashas, Le Tobsil is a peaceful haven hidden amid the twisting alleyways of the Medina. Its stone arches, white table cloths and candle lit ambience make it ideal for a romantic escape. Chef Fatima Mountassamim has created a different set meal for every day of the week, based around fresh market produce and traditional Moroccan flavours that are cooked with meticulous care and attention.
The best restaurants in Marrakech - reviews by
LE TOBSILTravellers to Marrakech in the age before mass tourism, or at least those lucky enough to have an invitation to the pasha's palace, always spoke in hushed tones about the sumptuous banquets. The pasha has gone, but the banquets remain, now served in 'palace restaurants', of which there are several, among them Stylia, Dar Marjana and Yacout. The most reliable and one of the most spectacular is Le Tobsil, an old palace in the medina whose rooms and tables - white cloths, rose petals, big brass candelabra - couldn't be more romantic.
24 HOURS EATING STREET FOOD IN MARRAKECH
There are some restaurants which are excellent - Al Fassia or Le Tobsil to name a few, and certainly worth making a reservation for. And there are some restaurants that are beautiful, such as Le Jardin, which exudes Moroccan charm and serenity, and is worth a visit as much if not more for how it makes you feel as for its food. There are also some riads serving brilliant home-style food, too many to get to all of them, in spite of my best efforts, that shouldn’t be overlooked.
Marrakech Restaurants
This traditional restaurant is one of the best-known for multi-course Moroccan cuisine, so there are lots of tour-group types and, unless you have an enormous appetite, the set menu works out as a bit of an extravagance. Prices include wine and aperitifs, and performances by traditional gnaoua groups. 22 Derb Moulay Abdellah Ben Hessaien, Bab Ksour, Medina Tel: +212 (0)5 24 44 96 35
Where to Eat in Marrakech, Medina
In typical Marrakech fashion, the food at Le Tobsil just keeps on coming, course after course after course. But far from being a test of endurance, the experience is more like unwrapping presents at Christmas: You can’t wait to see what’s next. Aperitifs are followed by a swarm of vegetarian meze dishes, a flaky pastilla, a tajine, and a couscous dish.
