Old JUGOPETROL headquarters - built in the late 1960s, back when Montenegro was still part of Yugoslavia. Its bold, concrete design is a classic example of Yugoslav modernist architecture. Brutalist, boxy, and totally out of place among Kotor’s medieval walls. Once the heart of the state oil company, the building has been abandoned for over a decade. #brutalism #jugoslavija #yugoslavia #lostplace ...

Reviews Summary

Bokun offers an authentic Montenegrin dining experience in the heart of Kotor's Old Town, praised for its traditional flavors and pleasant evening atmosphere. While many enjoy the pizzas and meat/cheese platters, some diners have noted issues with blandness in certain dishes and inconsistent service. The affordability is a definite plus for many visitors seeking local cuisine.

"Lovely friendly restaurant. Stopped by for a quick drink before we climbed to see the fortress, and then came back for lunch.
We had a lovely traditional sandwich and a chicken wrap, both at a great price.
And always worth helping the local economy 👍"

"There are few vegan options here for me. I tried the risotto here. Its very tasteless, few things are not cooked well, flavorless so I have to add salt and pepper. I had better ones in other restaurants. Its a step in the right direction to have vegan options, but they need to be cooked well"

"A Must-Visit Gem in Old Town Kotor!

If you’re visiting Kotor and looking for an unforgettable dining experience, Bokun Bar and Restaurant is the place to go. Nestled in the heart of the Old Town, this charming spot offers not only a perfect atmosphere but also some of the best food we’ve had in Montenegro.

We ordered the fish platter, and it was absolutely phenomenal — hands down the best in town. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, it offered a variety of expertly grilled and prepared seafood that would satisfy any seafood lover. The selection was generous, and each bite was better than the last. Truly a highlight of our trip!

The ambience at Bokun is relaxed yet vibrant, with a lovely outdoor seating area that captures the charm of Old Town perfectly. It’s a great place to unwind and enjoy a leisurely meal, whether you’re with friends, family, or enjoying a romantic evening out.

Special shoutout to Alex and Honey, our wonderful waitresses — warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout. Their service was exceptional and really elevated the entire experience. And of course, a huge thanks to Okan, the chef, whose culinary skills are second to none. Every dish we tried reflected both passion and expertise.

The menu also features a great variety beyond seafood, including local favorites and Mediterranean classics, all made with high-quality ingredients.

All in all, Bokun Bar and Restaurant is a true standout in Kotor. Whether you’re in town for a day or staying longer, make sure this place is on your list. Highly recommended — we’ll definitely be coming back!"

The Best Bars In Kotor, Montenegro

Montenegro is one of the most underrated destinations in Europe for oenophiles. Bokun Wine Bar is the place to go in Kotor if you are looking for a glass or two of the fine stuff, an experience embellished by a delightful selection of cold meats and cheeses too. It doesn’t get much more elegant than a glass of wine in Kotor’s old town, although the live music at weekends can add a certain spice to that most graceful of escapades.

Bokun If you are looking for delicious snacks and refreshing drinks in Kotor, then Pokun Restaurant is the right place for you!. This was our stop for breakfast/brunch after we hiked up to St John's Fortress in the early morning. It was all washed down with an amazing red wine from the region.

A Hipster's Guide to Kotor

For Montenegrin and Mediterranean favorites Bokun is your spot. From seafood to pizza it’s great for lunch and dinner. We would go for a lazy brunch or lunch, just a heads up some people complain about the service being slow, but I just found it to be relaxed in that European sort of way.

This wine bar, right in Old Town, has a nice selection and good pizza and sandwiches. I liked that it was a bit back from the crush and offered some really good people watching of a dive-y bar across the way.
