Reviews Summary

Muss Café is celebrated for its exceptional coffee, sourced from Finca Las Nieves, and its beautiful ambiance, especially the charming courtyard and rooftop terrace. While many praise the friendly service and delicious food, some reviews mention instances of slow or lacking service. The café's reputation has also been affected by controversy surrounding language use and accusations of discrimination, though some efforts have been made to address these concerns.

"Absolutely loved it here!! A friend and I were trying to find a place to find to sit down and study, and this cafe was absolutely perfect for that!
The baristas were so so sweet and friendly, and gave us the WiFi for the cafe so we could study.
I ordered a matcha latte and my friend ordered a jamaica(?) drink. They were both amazing! I was enamored with the matcha.
Would so highly recommend this place!"

Emily Giang

"This is tucked within a very unique hotel. Both first floor and the third floor rooftop are a places of exquisite atmosphere and one could spend the whole day there just relaxing. Food was great too!"

Jelena Pasic

"Hands down best coffee in all of Mexico. So smooth and tasty.
Also had the chia pudding and was delicious and presented so beautifully."

The Best Coffee Spots In Oaxaca Mexico

Located only two blocks away from the Zócalo, the central gathering place of Oaxaca, Muss Café should not be missed by coffee lovers visiting Oaxaca City. Its organic beans are sourced from Finca Las Nieves: a farm brushed by the wind of the Pacific Coast that has been producing some of the state’s best coffee since the 19th century. The café itself is a chic and modern space that opens onto a calm-inducing colonial courtyard.

ALONG DUSTY ROADS

The 7 Best Coffee Shops in Oaxaca City

Located within the gorgeous Casa Antioneta (a gorgeous former colonial palace and now one of Oaxaca’s best boutique hotels), Muss Café is probably the most beautiful coffee shop in this list. It’s an ideal spot for a morning coffee, but it’s become a super popular cafe amongst digital nomads who come for the coffee, the food and the pretty co-working space in the inner courtyard. Those in the know will also find their way up to the plant-filled rooftop terrace for spectacular views over the city (although the wifi isn’t fantastic up here), enjoyed - naturally - with one of Muss’ excellent cocktails.

The 15 Best Restaurants in Oaxaca, Mexico

Muss Cafe was one of my favorite coffee spots in Oaxaca because of its dark and moody interior decor, delicious menu items, and refreshingly bold cold brew. After striking out with some iced coffees during our trip, we found a cold brew that finally wasn’t watered down and, of course, tried a latte. We ordered the BLTA and were surprised by all the fresh ingredients – crispy lettuce, sweet tomatoes, rich bacon slices, and nutty and ripe avocado sandwiched between thick and fluffy bread slices layered with garlic aioli and aged mustard.

The Best Coffee Shops in Oaxaca According to a Cafe Connoisseur

Muss Cafe came highly recommended in the Expats Oaxaca Facebook group I belong to. After having spent an afternoon sipping one of their artfully prepared lattes and savoring every last bight of their chocolate chip banana bread, I couldn’t not add this coffee shop to the list. It’s situated inside of the beautiful Casa Antonieta in Centro, meaning you can enjoy your coffee inside the cafe or at a seat in the hotel’s inviting courtyard.
