The enchanting courtyard at Chepiche Cafe is filled with trees and tropical plants. On the edge, beautiful white columns frame a covered seating area that is decorated with large art canvases. On the menu, there are a lot of traditional plates of eggs, but I recommend adventuring to try one of their more creative dishes, such as La Santa.

Chepiche Café is one of the most iconic restaurants in Oaxaca with a quaint garden courtyard that provides diners with a lovely casual vibe that people find alluring. Also imagine dark gray walls with gorgeous paintings hung strategically. Large umbrellas then provide patrons wtih shade from the sun and simultaneously add to the ambiance.

Who would’ve guessed we’d have one of the best brunches in our life in Oaxaca?. Chepiche Cafe is a hidden gem up in the Reforma part of town. Meal highlights included the torta ahogada (a cheesy egg sandwich drowning in an incredible salsa), blue corn pancakes with plantains and blueberries, and homemade almond butter toast with bananas.

Nearby Chepiche (look it up on Googlemaps, as it’s not signposted from the road) is super spacious, room for bikes, and there’s outdoor seating. Ancestral, also close by in Xochimilco, is a restaurant serving beautifully presented, traditional Oaxacan fare.

Chepiche cafe is the ultimate destination for breakfast and lunch. I ate here every day for my visit in Oaxaca. The staff is friendly and attentive, the atmosphere is a serene and inviting outdoor courtyard with a fountain and a sheltered section.

If you are looking for healthy, creative, and scrumptious café-style food, Chepiche Café is an exceptional choice. It’s a short walk north of the city center. However, it will be worth the visit!

Tucked away on a side street, with an unassuming street facing storefront, you head thru a gate and then down some stairs and get to the lively, lovely courtyard dining area.
