What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Casa Oaxaca Reforma is celebrated for its exceptional service, delicious Oaxacan cuisine, and beautiful ambiance, often highlighted by tableside salsa preparation. While many rave about the authentic flavors and attentive staff, some diners found certain dishes lacked depth or were overpriced for the perceived value, leading to a mixed experience for a few.
"I booked the table for two at Sun 17:30 but it closed at 6 pm, I was surprised that we can still get in.
The starter is amazing, hand-made and fresh salsa that you can adjust the level of spice! The waiter is super nice and he even tried to learn mandarin to wish us have a good meal!
We have ordered local dishes made with mole. The beef ribs and turkey with different kind of mole that you can taste different style of Mexican cuisines.
We enjoyed a lot, highly recommend it."

"We ordered chille en nogada and chicken black mole and an artesan beer. Chile en nogada was good and filling, but it lacked a bit of flavor. Chicken black mole was ok, but I had better from other restaurants. It came with 2 small fried platain. The home made salsa was nice, but it lacked flavor as well. The servers meant well, but took away our plates before we could finished it. Overall, it was dissapointing for an upscale Michellin restaurant. The heart of Michellin restaurant is the gastronomic creativity and the sensationalim of the flavor. We expected more, but walked away dissapointed. We won't be going back."

"OUTSTANDING!! My wife and I were only doing Michelin Star mentioned restaurants while in Oaxaca for the first time ( except for a great food tour we did at a HUGE local market). Casa Oaxaca did an amazing job from start to finish. The service was impeccable. Our waiter, who made salsa at the table, noted that we had different likes in our heat level on our salsa. After making the first salsa, he went away, on his own, and made a separate one that had more heat. So appreciated!! We did four appetizers because we wanted to try so much. Each did not disappoint. You just can’t get food like this at such a reasonable prices.
Oh, the live music downstairs was top quality. So good!"

Casa Oaxaca is one of the best restaurants in Oaxaca City, so definitely make time for a dinner there. Thanks to the stunning setting and incredible food, it’s as beloved by locals as it is by tourists and travel experts. Arts & Culture in Oaxaca
The city of Oaxaca features an impressive number of museums and art galleries, but your first stop should be CASA, a great spot located in the village of San Agustín. This bustling art center started by Francisco Toledo – Mexico’s foremost contemporary artist – is set in an expansive facility to accommodate its mission to educate, exhibit and act as a workshop for the painter. Oaxaca, Mexico – New Worlder
This pioneering restaurant helmed by Alejandro Ruiz, attached to a luxury boutique hotel, was the first to place Oaxacan cuisine in a fine dining context. Ruiz respects traditional flavors and techniques, though uses modern plating and has a nice wine list. Try and have a pre-dinner cocktail drink on the rooftop, which has stunning views of Iglesia Santo Domingo de Guzmán.

Toledo, who passed away in 2019, used his platform to champion the arts and founded many of the region’s art spaces, including CaSa and el IAGO. The result is a city vibrating with the energy of people making things.
Best food and drink in Oaxaca, Mexico
Don’t let the fact that this drink looks like muddy water fool you. Sweet, sour, salty, and strong, this cocktail was perfectly balanced and makes for a nice compliment to any Oaxacan meal. I don’t typically enjoy tamarind, but I really enjoyed this drink, and it was Lindsay’s favorite in all of the cocktails we’ve tried during our two months in Mexico.

For breakfast, try Café Casa Oaxaca located on Calle Jazmines, a little more than 2 miles from the Zócalo.
