Reviews Summary
Ramiro Cocina is celebrated for its authentic, creative Mexican cuisine, often highlighting vegetarian options and unique flavor combinations. Diners love the intimate garden setting and the open kitchen experience. However, some reviews mention small portions and occasional issues with service responsiveness and strict kitchen hours.
"We had a delightful time at Cocina Ramiro! We popped up on their 3 yr anniversary unknowingly. They did have a daily choices menu, we tried everything on the menu and everything was absolutely delicious.🔥🔥 The Lechón tacos and the Corn ribs hit the spot for us! also the camarones tostada was very yummy! That day they even had a DJ for the fiesta. 🎉 Vibe is down to earth, wonderful garden, the food is center stage."

"This was an awesome experience. A true home-cooked meal with dialed in seasoning and a causal outdoor patio environment. The menu changes daily and is explained to you as you sit down (in English or in Spanish). We got the quesabirria and duo of moles. They had a delicious coconut hibiscus mezcal cocktail special. The food was outstanding and of the folks working there are so knowledgeable and friendly. Jessica was awesome and gave us a great experience. Some of the best food we have eaten in Merida."

"Heard great things about this restaurant. But unfortunately it didn’t live up to the hype. Food was underwhelming. Actually our worst dinner during our 4 night stay in Merida.
The potatoes with cheese were not good and I kept looking for the cheese, which I never found.
The food quality/size per price ratio is not good.
The Mezcal was good, but again overpriced for what you got.
Sorry, you can do better."

Why Mérida’s New Creative Energy Makes It a Mexico Must-Visit
At nearby Ramiro Cocina, a small, daytime-only restaurant, the choice between sitting in the sun-dappled garden or the stone-topped bar—where you can watch the chefs at work—can be a difficult one. But in either setting, the food itself will be just as good, featuring various kinds of mole, minguiche (a tomato soup with milky cheese), gooey pork or squash blossom quesadilla, or the signature bacalao to share (cod stew); perfect when paired with the house fresh fruit juices. The restaurant’s recipes are all inspired by the founder’s grandfather (and the restaurant’s namesake) who, at 95 years old, is still able to come into the kitchen from time to time and show the team how it’s done.
Mérida, Mexico Culinary Guide
At Ramiro, named after a Mexican golden-age actor who happens to be the owner's grandfather, head chef Aleli Vicencio presents a vegetarian (largely vegan) menu inspired by Mexican flavors that emphasize seasonal ingredients sourced from the local market. She draws inspiration from traditional Yucatecan cantinas, where guests enjoy drinks accompanied by simple yet delicious botanas. Ramiro follows this pattern, offering inventive Mexican bites in an open kitchen setting, along with a secret tasting menu for a contemporary culinary experience.
