Santo is one of the most touristy restaurants in Guanajuato due to its location on the bridge. Don’t be fooled by the fact that they are a tourist hot spot, they pride themselves on making tasty food and offer a handful of vegan options. If you arrive early enough you can get a spot outside on the bridge to people-watch and enjoy the views of Guanajuato’s beautiful architecture.

Once you’re inside the town and settled in (don’t worry, hotel recommendations are coming later in this guide), you’ll want to grab some lunch and coffee from Santo Café, where you can sit on an outdoor archway overlooking a cobblestone pedestrian street. Order the fajitas and relax while the street performers serenade you from below.

Located right in the heat of the Centro, Santo Cafe offers hungry patrons awesome ambiance and surprisingly delicious food. I say surprisingly because Mexico is not known for great pasta dishes or incredible salads, in our experience anyway. But we were pleasantly surprised to find both the night we ate Santo Cafe!

We rarely eat breakfast but we’re always happy to make an exception if a restaurant offers something unique or special. Santo Café is that kind of restaurant in Guanajuato. Santo Café offers a huge menu of both Mexican and international dishes, including good breakfast platters with eggs, pancakes, and omelettes.

Eating a traditional brunch on the bridge into Santo Café, overlooking a busy pedestrian street, is one of the most charming dining experiences you’ll have in Guanajuato. Santo Café serves all the Mexican classics along with a selection of international favorites. Is the food amazing?

The restaurant spills out onto a quaint bridge that crosses over one of the town’s many alleyways. It makes for a fantastic place to dine while people-watching. Considering this cafe’s notoriety and picturesque location, the menu is surprisingly affordable.

Santo Cafe is well-known in Guanajuato for its outdoor tables and chairs positioned on a stone bridge that crosses a historic alleyway. Indeed, you’re likely to pass under the bridge at some point during your stay, even if you don’t visit the cafe.

Santo Cafe’ is a must, very popular for their burgers and fries but most of all for their seating on the iconic bridge over the Callejon del Campanero. I have never made it but you should try it. There are only two or three tables outside though.

A tried-and-true tourist hotspot, Santo Cafe offers a welcoming, homely atmosphere in the heart of Guanajuato's pink-washed Old Town and nacho ranchero appetizers and cheese quesadillas that will have you licking your plate.

Follow the pedestrian-only street past the Don Quixote Museum, under Santo Cafe, past the Cervantes Theater and plaza, then proceed down “Calle Sangre de Cristo” to the park. Look for your guide at the fountain.
