Hands down, Pak Putra is my most frequented Pakistani restaurant in Melaka and is one of the top 10 food places on Trip Advisor. Run by a Chinese – Pakistani couple it seems, so the culinary roots are very close to it’s origin run the Chinese way. The signage at the shop tells some talks about the shop’s history. Starting first with Tandori and Naan, then evolving to some Indian-Mamak items such roti chanai and now Bombay side dishes.

People say that Pak Putra Tandoori is the best in Malacca and some even claim it is the best in Malaysia!. Malacca, yes, but I am not sure about the whole of Malaysia. The tandoori chicken and naan here are very good and worth the calories, but you can get something just as good here in Singapore.

When it comes to what to eat in Melaka, we want to venture out of the local Nyonya cuisine. We had our dinner at Pak Putra Restaurant, which serves Pakistani and Indian food. This restaurant is at a double shop lot with additional tables and chairs along the service road.

It would be hard to make a Melaka food guide without including Pak Putra. It’s one of the city’s most renowned establishments and frequented by locals and tourists alike. Which also means it’s not uncommon to see a long queue for tables in the evenings.

Pak Putra is known for its naan and tandoori chicken, and this place is perpetually crowded. If you go during peak period, expect to wait at least 45 minutes for your food. Or worse, you might not get any tandoori chicken.
