Reviews Summary

Jonker 88 is a popular spot known for its authentic Nyonya Asam Laksa and Baba Cendol, often drawing long queues. While many praise the laksa and cendol's flavors, some reviews mention a decline in quality over the years or find the prices steep for the portion and ambiance. Service can be inconsistent, with some experiencing rudeness while others find the staff friendly.

"The restaurant is always packed whenever we visit. This time, we arrived around 6 p.m. and, thankfully, there was no queue — but our laksa turned out to be the last bowl of the day. It was a memorable meal, with everything being absolutely satisfying. We’ll definitely be back for more."

Leng Siew

"I had to deliberate a fair bit before deciding on a rating here as I had two completely different opinions on the two food items I tried here: Nyonya Asam Laksa and Baba Cendol.

The Nyonya Asam Laksa was great, it was really tasty and the sourness was just nice. The standard still remained equally good compared to ten over years back when I first tried it.

However, the Cendol was a huge disappointment. It had no fragrance from the coconut milk or gula melaka at all. The standard of this was a far cry from that of the past.

Seats are limited so expect to queue during peak hours. Ordering and collection is done via self service. Prices are honestly quite steep for the portion and ambience here. Overall, I wouldn't make the effort to queue but I may still return for their asam laksa if there is no wait."

GG K

"Taste: 3/5 (Overall rating, Chendol + Laksa)
- 5/5 for Chendol itself

Service: 4/5
Atmosphere: 4/5
Affordability: 5/5
Would I come back: Yes!

It a self-service ordering system. Queue for seats and go to the counter to order & pickup your food.

Probably the best Chendol I tried at Jonker Street. I tried a few places nearby(iykyk). Their gula melaka is so rich and thick and their green worms had a bite to it! The coconut milk was decent as well! Would come back and eat this again and try their Assam Laksa.

I am not a fan of Laksa, to me their Laksa was too spicy, no lemak taste at all. And they did not use the thick beehoon but used thin beehoon itself, which I feel, does not go well with the Laksa. But their fried toppings were crispy and hot!"
