Reviews Summary

The Belle Rive Terrace is celebrated for its absolutely stunning riverside sunset views and its location along the Mekong River. Diners rave about the delicious food, which includes both authentic Lao specialties and international fusion dishes, and highlight the incredibly warm and caring service that makes any occasion memorable. While some note service can be slow, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, making it a highly recommended spot in Luang Prabang.

"All good here, food quality, price, wine by the glass (considering location). Lovely folk and service, Bee, our waiter was excellent and attentive. Table 53 to far LHS has best unblocked sunset views ;-) You will need to reserve, though, or you'll end up looking at the back of folks heads as it gets popular."

TRAVEL MAN

"Unforgettable riverside dining with heartwarming service!

Our visit to The Belle Rive Terrace in Luang Prabang more times was truly special. The location is beautiful, right along the Mekong River — peaceful, scenic, and perfect for a relaxed meal. The food was excellent, full of flavor and beautifully presented.

What made the experience even more memorable was the birthday celebration. I had messaged the owner, who is a foreigner, and he personally coordinated with his amazing staff to organize everything. The team did a fantastic job — warm, friendly, and very well-organized. They even surprised us with a complimentary birthday cake, which was such a thoughtful gesture!

A truly heartwarming experience. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy great food, a beautiful view, and genuinely caring service."

"A lovely place to eat with awesome river views. Much posher than other options along the water; it felt clean and the service was excellent. We only ate a selection of appetizers and they were reasonably priced and very tasty!"

It’s the kind of place where you imagine a Laos prince, Graham Greene and French flâneurs mingling on the terrace over a glass of mint and lime followed by harder liquor. The Belle Rive’s three knockout houses – Tamarind, Mango and Frangipani – stand along the Mekong and have been restored and resurrected by six Germans who fell in love with Laos’ former royal capital. The glamorous rooms are scented with rosewood and have four-poster beds with dove grey drapes and yellow ribbons, chaises longues and handpainted bathroom sinks.
