What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners consistently praise PST Higashi Azabu for its exceptional Neapolitan-style pizzas, noting the perfect crust and quality toppings. The artisanal desserts and intimate atmosphere also receive high marks. However, some visitors find the strict rules, mandatory drink orders, and service charge to be unwelcoming and pricey, impacting the overall experience.
"A friend of us told us about this Japanese Pizza which stunned the Italians when they won the World Best Pizza Awards in Milan. So we had to try it in our next trip to Tokyo.
It is better to reserve online before coming over as there is a long Q for available tables. The restaurant has 2 floors, with 3 tables on the second floor and about 5 bar type tables on the first. Space is tight.
An amuse bouche of cream of mushroom will be served to you after ordering your dishes.
The appetizers were lightly seasoned and allow for natural ingredients to shine through. For the pizzas, the crust was thin but chewy, truly in the vpn style. It was very good pizza, one of the best we ever had. Health conscious people may not like it as there were some burnt crusts.
Truly deserving of the best pizza award.
Service is efficient and fast.
Toilet is small on the second floor."

"Long overdue review since our visit to Japan.
The pizza was amazing. Delightful. The flavours were simple and refined. We tried a few to name twice during the trip, but margarita pizza was a must try. The meaty options may be messy to some people’s taste palate. The cheese or cream base may be too fatty and one note to taste. Tomato base is always a good choice with cheese topping for a balanced flavour.
We sat by the counter. They made the pizza fresh on the spot. Please visit if you crave a pizza there. No words is needed to describe how light but flavourful the food is there~ There may be a queue, so drop by as early."

"PST serves a well-balanced pizza with high-quality, flavorful toppings, generous cheese, and a satisfying richness. The pizzaolo's technique creates an irregular, airy crust, but excess flour makes the texture slightly sandy. The edges are soft—good but could benefit from more crispness.
The staff is friendly, and the cozy, intimate setting adds charm. However, the one-drink minimum (starting at ¥9,000) may feel pricey. A more refined dough would elevate the experience."

The 11 Best Pizza Places In Tokyo
Colloquially known as simply PST, Pizza Studio Tamaki is named after the restaurant’s owner and head chef, the passionate and hardworking Tsubasa Tamaki. With its world-class pies, PST is helping put Tokyo on the map for producing some of the best Neapolitan-style pizza in the world. Just as the pizza is almost finished cooking, Tamaki throws a handful of sugi (Japanese cedar) chips into the wood fire oven to infuse the pizza with the slightest smoky hit.
20 best pizzas in Tokyo
Tucked snugly into a corner by Shiba Park in Minato ward sits one of the most highly regarded pizzerias in Tokyo. Pizza Studio Tamaki, or PST as it’s called by fans, is led by Tsubasa Tamaki, who trained under lauded pizzaiolo Sussum Kakinuma of Seireinkan and Savoy. The bases are light and chewy, sporting the characteristic puffy crust and thin centre of Naples-style pizza.
Best restaurants and bars to visit in Tokyo
Primacy in the school of Tokyo-style Neapolitan pizza frequently comes down to two names: Seirinkan, chef-owner Susumu Kakinuma’s two-story restaurant where the decor is inspired by Jules Verne, the Beatles are always playing, and the pie options are a margherita and a marinara; and Pizza Studio Tamaki, an unassuming corner hangout in a residential section of the Minato ward opened in 2017 by Tsubasa Tamaki, a protégé of Kakinuma. Ardent pizza lovers should make it to both places, but if time allows for only one pizzeria visit I vote PST. It is some of the best pizza I’ve had in the world.
