Diners praise the friendly and helpful staff, with some even able to assist with English explanations. While the lack of an English menu is a minor hurdle, the overall dining experience is consistently rated as superb and memorable, making it a highly recommended spot in Shinjuku.

"We arrived around 22pm. Last order was efficient, thanks for the lovely waitress. Food was surprisingly tasty and English service was available, chef came out and explained every dish detailed."

大鲶鱼

"Came here with a overseas work colleague for dinner and with early day booking was able to get a seat till 830.pm.
Its a pretty cool izakaya - intitily went thinking it was a yakitori place but they had a bunch or dishes and limited yakitori.
Overall it was a decent experience and overseas guests loved the yelling and screaming of the resturant staff as well as the food. Costs was reasonable.
Overall worth going."

Boss

"Busy establishment with a diligent team. Known for the chicken. Dishes to get are the chicken throat and chicken heart. Signature half chicken is a must. Tender and juicy, this places knows how to cook the bird. Excellent recommendations by one of the workers who spoke fluent English. Chicken in Shinjuku without boundaries, be adventurous and order anatomy other than chicken meat."

Shinjuku Nightlife Guide: 10 Best Late-Night Spots

It’s tricky to spot an izakaya with the right food, drinks and hospitality in spirit-laden Shinjuku, but Marudori Ruisuke happens to check all three boxes. The veteran Japanese bar, which opened in 2010, stood the test of time while so many others have faltered by carving out a niche with its one signature dish: a whole deep-fried young broiler from Tottori Prefecture. On the farm, the breed is raised for a shorter time than the average chicken; in the kitchen, the bird is marinated for 11 hours in the restaurant’s special sauce, then deep-fried whole at 180°C.

Established in 1907, this veteran shop has been in business for 100 years. Daisen chicken, a brand of chicken in Tottori, is delivered directly to the restaurant every day so the meat is extraordinarily fresh. It goes without saying that their yakitori is good but the specialty here is “Marudori no Motoage”.
