What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Imahan Honten is celebrated for its authentic sukiyaki and exceptional service, offering a traditional Japanese dining experience in a historic setting. While many rave about the tender wagyu and attentive staff, some reviews mention the sukiyaki sauce not being intense enough, and one diner experienced unsatisfactory table service.
"Excellent place and especially the service 😊 The servers were extraordinarily helpful and kind and when they saw our table of kids, they went over and helped them cook their meat 🥩
Fantastic but you may want to come early to get a spot (we had to line up even before the place was open to reserve our spot).
Nonetheless, it was definitely worth it and is extremely close to Asakusa Station 🚉 and Asakusa Temple 🏯 so there is a lot to do before eating!
Definitely worth the wait, price and coming back!! 👍"

"Very nice sukiyaki experience. Served by a very nice sweet elderly lady. Overall decor was very welcoming and comforting. Surprised they don’t have line up when I visited so of course I have to go in. the only down side is that I don’t find the sukiyaki sauce was intense enough. But overall it’s a 9/10."

"The restaurant is located next to the bustling Sensoji Temple, but there is a small Japanese-style courtyard inside the restaurant, which feels very elegant. The wagyu beef used for sukiyaki is also good, not so greasy and very juicy. The service quality is also very high, their attitude is very kind and humble."

First established in 1895, this family-run sukiyaki restaurant has been operating in the current location since 1951. The restaurant building still retains an old-fashioned Show era atmosphere with traditional furnishings and a delightful interior garden. Although, this is a very traditional Japanese restaurant, both Japanese style seating on tatami floors and Western style seating with tables and chairs is available.
