Reviews Summary

Ginza Kagari is celebrated for its exceptionally rich and creamy chicken paitan ramen, often enhanced with truffle for a luxurious touch. Diners appreciate the generous portions and fair pricing for such a unique culinary experience. While popular, be prepared for potential queues, though some suggest alternative branches to minimize wait times.

"This place is well known for the extremely rich chicken paitan ramen.
The broth is silky smooth, yet really really rich. It is almost a creamy consistency.

This location is always packed.

I tend to go to the other branch to avoid the lines.

Otemachi one has no lines at all.,"

"Had a late lunch here. Short wait outside but we were seated in under 10 minutes. I had the clam ramen and it was amazing, probably one of the best I had during my Tokyo trip. Small shop with about 10 seats, but some people managed to bring in suitcases, which is super convenient for travelers. Free ice-cold water ;)"

"I'm Japanese from Tokyo ,

I recently visited a ramen shop "Kagari" in Ginza.

It had good reviews on Tabelog, but to be honest,
the flavor didn’t live up to the hype.
The soup tasted flat and heavy with artificial seasoning.

There are so many truly amazing ramen spots in Tokyo, and it feels a little sad that visitors from overseas, with limited information, end up here instead.
If you’re looking for ramen that really warms your heart, I’d love for you to try Akakuro near Shinjuku Gyoen, or if you prefer chicken-based ramen, Tori no Ana in Ikebukuro and Hakata Tori Soba in Shinjuku are fantastic choices.

This might be unsolicited advice, but please—experience ramen that shows the depth and soul of Tokyo. You deserve to taste the real thing. 🍜"

8 Best Ramen in Ginza 2020 | Japan Travel by NAVITIME

The first ramen shop to be published in the Michelin guidebook, Ginza Kagari recently re-opened its main branch in a teahouse-inspired restaurant that’s hidden down a side alley. It’s famed for its signature Tori Paitan Soba (1,000 yen) whose soup base is made by simmering chicken bones to create a thick broth, then complemented by noodles and a selection of toppings. But the new (and longer) menu also features a shoyu version of the Tori Paitan Soba , as well as a deluxe version that’s infused with white truffle.

Ginza Food Guide: Best Restaurants in Ginza, Tokyo (Updated 2025)

Ginza Kagari (銀座 篝) is one of the busiest ramen restaurants in Tokyo, especially after it was introduced by the Michelin guide as a Bib Gourmand restaurant. Kagari serves innovative and creative ramen dishes like no other ramen restaurants do and their signature is chicken broth Tori Paitan Ramen. The rich and creamy potage-like chicken soup is made with a large amount of bone and meat of domestic chicken to bring out the fullest flavor.

Where to Eat in Tokyo

Kagari is another of our favorite Tokyo ramen shops, tucked away in an alley in the Ginza neighborhood. The signature dish is the Tori Paitan Soba, a chicken-based ramen with a rich, creamy broth and the optional addition of soy sauce and truffle. With thin slices of slow-cooked chicken, seasonal vegetables, and delicate noodles, it’s more like a chicken soup than your typical ramen.

Eating & Drinking in Tokyo, Japan

Ginza Kagari’s tori paitan ramen features a thick and creamy chicken-based broth with noodles, perfectly cooked cabbage and carrot, and slices of tender chicken. You can add more toppings and flavors and on this brisk day I opted for the garlic butter, which intensified the already rich broth. Other ramen spots worth a trip include Suzuran, Afuri, and many, many others.

After Afuri it's time for a change - so get out the way of that lightly flavoured Ramen and pull out the real guns, ok?. Ginza Kagari’s signature dish, and the reason why people line up outside, is their Tori Paitan Ramen. Tori Paitan is a Kyoto-style ramen with a chicken-based broth made by pressure cooking poultry.
