What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Dekunobou offers a fun, interactive dining experience where guests cook their own teppanyaki dishes. Reviewers praise the authentic Japanese cuisine, particularly the okonomiyaki and takoyaki, and appreciate the friendly staff who guide them through the cooking process. While the space can get a bit hot and loud, the affordable prices and engaging atmosphere make it a worthwhile visit for couples and groups alike.
"One of the few places where you can chat loudly without disturbing others. Had dinner here and it was delicious
This is a teppanyaki place (grilled on an iron plate), and you can order food with the restaurant’s ipad. Please bear in mind that it can take a bit long. Staff do not speak English but English is available on the menu. Also please note that you have to cook the food yourself, perhaps you can get a bit of help from the staff if you order takoyaki (octopus pancake balls)
What I recommend: Takoyaki, yakisoba (stir fried noodles), beef tongue, pork, okonomiyaki (cabbage pancake)
If you do not know how to cook these please watch youtube tutorials before coming so you don’t embarrass yourself. Staff is very busy with many tables so they definitely cannot cater you throughout your meal
I paid ≈ ¥10.000 for 5 people but it can cost more if you are a big eater"

"Amazing tepanyaki dishes. Friendly staff that guided us choosing our meal. Very reasonable prices (3300 for dinner for a couple)."

"We were guided here by a man who works in another restaurant, having previously been refused in another restaurant in the same street. (No names necessary...) Basically we were looking for affordable okonomiyaki. It was pretty good here, they have 7-8 types of okonomiyaki and selection of other foods, some meat, takoyaki... You can make your own food on the grill on the tables but we had ours done by the kitchen. It was quite an experience to get rejected in the restaurant before because we don't speak Japanese, and then get welcomed here. I have respect for the country and it's fair to reject us when we don't know the language or culture, but in Dekunobou we were accepted even though we don't speak Japanese and the staff speak very little English. Therefore I'll have this venue in fond memory."
