Dubbed ‘the apple of the coffee industry,’ renowned San Francisco-based coffee company Blue Bottle Coffee launched their first overseas store in Kiyosumi, Tokyo in 2015. Since then, they have expanded to multiple locations across town, including Aoyama, Roppongi and Shinjuku. The Shinjuku cafe has a minimalist, modern vibe with a slight hip and rustic touch, whilst the coffee being poured is consistently high quality and satisfyingly smooth, made with carefully curated beans from coffee farms all over the world.

Blue bottle has become one of the most popular coffee places in the world for people like us who want a really great cup of coffee, every time. Their beans are great (their Hayes Valley espresso is reasonably priced) and definitely a good choice if you’re brewing at home, with a good selection of roasts for your taste. Their design is simple and clean, with light brown hues juxtaposing the stainless steel of their countertops which are always immaculately clean.

The pristine white and warm wooden interior of Blue Bottle Shinjuku, which opened as part of the newly renovated Shinjuku Station/NeWoMan shopping center, is perennially full with travelers and locals alike. Watching the customer flow here is a little like watching an assembly line for carefully made coffee. Expect smooth service and the constant buzz of conversation.

For decades, artisanal American coffee roasters have gained much popularity in Japan. The California-based Blue Bottle Coffee is one such coffee roaster that is well-loved by many Japanese and unsuspecting tourists alike. Situated near one of Japan’s busiest districts, the baristas at Blue Bottle Coffee work hard to give dedicated customers their caffeine fix.

Dubbed as the "Apple of the coffee world," Blue Bottle Coffee from San Francisco also has a shop in NEWoMan Shinjuku. Their store features an open layout with a 360-degree island bar where customers can interact with the baristas. On the ground floor of NEWoMan is the third addition to Blue Bottle Coffee’s Japan family. This well-designed cafe is forever bustling with curious customers. The staff here is cool under pressure and work quick and efficiently through the lines.

I have visited a total of four stores in Tokyo, including Kiyosumi Shirakawa, Shinjuku, Omotesando and the newest one in Hiroo. I haven't been there for a long time. When I saw it this time, I was shocked.

The American coffee chain has several locations across Tokyo but I especially loved their Roppongi location. It has a beautiful outdoor space and is great for relaxing or getting some work done.

This coffee place in the heart of Shinjuku was brisk, right next to a Le Pain de Joel Robuchon bakery, where many office goers grab-and-go a takeaway cup with that signature blue bottle logo.

If you are craving a nice coffee, Blue Bottle Coffee in NeWoman, a building I still can’t decide how to pronounce, is a popular chain that also usually serves a GF cake.

In the same building as Sarabeths is Blue Bottle Coffee – great coffee for even the snobbiest of coffee snobs. It’s on the 3rd Floor.
