Reviews Summary
Cafe-Restaurant Takumi offers a unique dining experience with its historic ambiance and some well-loved dishes like curry rice and omurice. While many praise the flavor and portion sizes of certain items and appreciate the accommodating service, a significant drawback is that the restaurant is cash-only. Some diners also note that certain dishes can be overpriced and lack flavor, with inconsistent food quality being a point of contention.
"That was a very good hamburger steak and curry! It’s all well seasoned, not salty, and very delicious. The place was nice and the staff were accommodating too. The serving size is also perfect after all the walking around Nikko!"

"After walking for hours in the temple, this is the first restaurant that caught my eyes. Curry suits the best in this situation.
Without much expectation, the meal is good and live up to what they shown from the menu. Especially the omelette rice which looks drooling.
The environment looks historic and service is adequate."

"It is cash only. Staff were kind and spoke English. I got the omurice omelet. The rice wasn’t inside the omelet.
I didn’t have enough cash (spent at the temples 😖) but they were patience and guided me to the atm across the street to get more cash. I was short 96yen 😅.(Fyi, if you get cash at that atm there’s a 4% atm conversion fee so just get a small amount until you see a Japan Post atm)"

A cafe restaurant inside the Nikko Bussan Shokai, designated as a registered National Tangible Cultural Property of Japan and located on the Japan Romantic Road in Kamihatsuishi Town, Nikko City. Takumi offers their own yuba bento made with tofu skin, set meals of steaks, Hamburg steaks and pork cutlets, as well as specially made cakes from the Kanaya Hotel bakery. The interior decoration reminiscent of the Meiji period is also very attractive.
