"Established in 1860, very cosy atmosphere with cobblestone flooring, u get to see your live dinner right after you enter the shop. Friendly owner and granny.
Eel and rice separate means eel comes with the sauce in an orange pottery ware, rice you can take as much as you want.
Eel donburi comes with eel on top of rice bowl, sauce is separate. Eel pieces are big, would recommend 5 slices as standard to start with."

"Probably the best unagi restaurant in Nagasaki. Fresh unagi and attentive service. Very friendly and cheerful granny! I went to three different unagi stores in the northern areas of Kyushu and this was by far best of the three."

"In a little back street off the main shopping street in a very funky bit of town. It is all eel.
Delicious delicious eel. There is a reason this restaurant has been open since 1860. There is a basic English menu. Great food interesting space cold beer."

Eel is such a delicacy in Japan, most people would only consider ordering it at a specialist unagi restaurant run by an expert shokunin chef. Once you’ve tried this tender, fatty fish – lovingly grilled over charcoal – you’ll understand why. Available year-round, unagi is especially popular in summer, when eating it is said to fight off the oppressive heat and humidity.

We ate at an unagi specialty restaurant called Izumiya right after so we couldn’t order too much here. But if you’re looking for other dishes to try, then you can go for their braised pork belly as well. Yossou is known for it too and based on people’s reviews, it’s delicious.
