What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Kiyama offers an exquisite kaiseki experience, praised for its meticulously prepared dashi and high-quality ingredients. Diners often highlight the value of the lunch course and the warm hospitality. However, some reviews mention that the food can be bland for certain palates, and seating in private rooms may detract from the intimate counter experience.
"A stunning meal—amazing food, and incredible attention to detail. The chefs were also so nice and helped explain each dish.
They shaved fresh bonito, which was really cool to see, and let us taste the two different kinds. Chef Kiyama also boiled the bonito and made dashi right in front of us. The food overall was amazing—very delicate, fresh, and delicious. A few things that stood out: the egg yolk that was almost red in color, the 5 or 6 different rice dishes that they let us sample, and surprisingly, the citrus juice was one of my favorite things! All the seafood dishes were also super good. The final item was a thick matcha that Kiyama himself made.
At the end of the meal we also got to take a photo with Chef Kiyama! He came all the way downstairs to bid us farewell, super nice of him.
Very serene and thoughtful experience, and a killer deal for the price point during lunch. After this expedience, I’d definitely come back for the pricier dinner service."

"The food here was just amazing. We tried many different dishes and all of them cooked to perfection. The wine pairing was also quite good with the food and also we were full after the whole meal since they offered 5 different types of rice. Incredible experience and a really amazing selection of ingredients.
I put 4 stars is because they didn’t give us a counter sit and they put us in an isolated room. The atmosphere is for sure not the same sitting in an isolated room as in the counter and also we didn’t feel as well taken care of (eg water was not refilled often etc), when we pay 500 USD for a meal, these things are expected.
Other than that it was great."

"High value of the lunch reservation. Food fresh and well treated. Light flavors. Took about 2.5 hr for lunch. I will go back again if time allows."
