What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners rave about Hakone Karaage Karatto for its exceptionally juicy and well-spiced karaage, often paired with refreshing craft beers in a cozy, pet-friendly environment by Lake Ashi. While the food is generally praised, some reviewers note that portions can be small for the price, and a few found the chicken to be merely mediocre. Overall, it's a recommended spot for its unique offerings and welcoming atmosphere, especially for pet owners and fried chicken enthusiasts.
"I recently visited a charming local establishment specializing in delicious boneless chicken with crispy fries. The welcoming and relaxed atmosphere made it a great spot to unwind. My husband decided to try the fish and chips, and I must say, both dishes were expertly seasoned and cooked to perfection, resulting in moist and flavorful bites. The fries were wonderfully crisp, complementing the chicken beautifully. One unique aspect of this place is that it is dog-friendly, which adds a nice touch for pet owners looking to enjoy a meal with their furry friends. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience!"

"Came here for late lunch without a reservation. Tables were available and were welcomed in.
The food was great and most options include a drink, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The food arrived quickly and the service was friendly and prompt.
Very pet friendly with plenty of people bringing their dogs with them. There also is a friendly restaurant cat who roams around, probably fed a lot of chicken judging by its size!
Would very happily eat here again."

"We came to this place because it was one of the few places that looked good opening at 11:00am. We were the first ones in and it got a bit busy but nothing too crazy after a while. The food was flavorful and it was good. We paid $47 dollars for four meals and 3 cokes. The only downside is that the portions are very small. Almost like a kids meal in the U.S. So if you’re really hungry think about going here twice. We were satisfied but not full. The staff were really nice and welcoming. They allow pets and the environment is really chill. Overall, I’d skip next time."
