What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners praise the authentic and flavorful motsunabe, often highlighting the quality of the offal and broth. Service is frequently described as friendly and attentive, especially for newcomers. However, some guests have noted inconsistencies in service, with occasional impatience or inattentiveness during busy periods, and a few found the portions small for the price.
"For a first timer, their motsunabe is recommended! The broth is light and the meat added to it is tender. I love that they serve tons of cabbage and leeks in it which adds more texture in the whole meal. Ordered the Passion Fruit Sour as well and it’s so refreshing 💗"
Kyssa Acuña
"The service left much to be desired. Our server seemed impatient and inattentive. I ordered a set meal that included coffee and dessert, but neither was offered after the hot pot unless I specifically asked. The hot pot itself was just average in flavor, and the portion size was quite small for the price. Throughout the meal, we weren’t provided with utensils unless we asked. Overall, the dining experience didn’t live up to the price point—definitely not worth it."
Ryan T
"The motsunabe is tasty but you have to like offal to really enjoy the meal. I ordered the beef offal set
The service is fast and good. This restaurant is recommendable."

Another of the best Fukuoka foods, which has become popular across Japan, is motsunabe, a hot pot ( nabe) dish made with beef or pork giblets ( motsu). While eating offal is not so popular in some Western countries, the Japanese ideology of “ mottainai” (which roughly translates to “waste not, want not”) prizes using every part of the animal for cooking. The giblets are carefully cleaned and blanched to remove any harsh odors or flavors, and then simmered in a strong broth of soy sauce or miso, which stands up well to the bold flavor of the organ meat.

Noodles or additional rice may be added to the leftover soup in the pot at the end of the meal to finish the dish.

Some were a bit easy to find ( Motsunabe) and others like Umegae Mochi, became an almost failed mission. Luckily I persevered and found it in Hakata station. I should have known it would be there because Hakata station is like a maze of delicious food and souvenirs.
