What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners rave about the authentic and hearty Hoto noodle soup, often describing it as a must-try regional specialty. The traditional atmosphere and friendly staff contribute to a positive experience, though some note long wait times during peak hours. The portions are generous, making it a satisfying meal.
"When I found out we would be coming here as part of a group tour I was a little dubious about what the quality of the food would be like. I should not have been concerned. While they only have one dish (vegetable noodle soup), it is excellent and the whole experience was very novel for our group of foreigners. From the extremely warm welcome to the soup pot delivery 'runners', clean toilets, thoughtful souvenirs options, it is worth coming here. And there is a great coffee shop on the other side of the carpark."

"Active friendly staff with reasonable price of foods. Hot Japanese soup menu with cold weather is very nice. In prime time you may have to wait, but I think it is worth. The quantity is very big, beware for fullness."

"The most memorable dish, interestingly, was the inarizushi, a kind of sushi wrapped in a fried tofu pouch. Inarizushi isn’t pricey but hard to be made deliciously. The shop was able to make the fried tofu sheet in the amount of sweetness just right — something you might not have at sushi-go-rounds.
Must also try the horse meat sashimi.
This place is the best resto to visit after a short hike to Tenku no Torii (Mount Fuji Distant Worship Site) and back."

Houtou is a noodle dish using flat udon noodles stewed into a soup. Vegetables are added into it to make a hearty meal. However, because the noodles are prepared in the style of a dumpling, locals do not consider this "udon." There is also a type of houtou that contains Japanese pumpkin, kabocha.
